Job summary

Raiz FCU is seeking an Accounting Specialist in El Paso, TX to support the Vice President of Accounting and Finance. You will process wire transfers, post to the accounting system, and assist with daily deposits and reconciliations.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance and at least 5 years of accounting experience, with strong knowledge of GAAP, regulations, and accounting software. This is a full-time, on-site position offering growth and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP, government regulations and reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with auditing and data processing functions.
• Understanding of automated accounting applications.
• Knowledge of Credit Union environment, operations and information flow.

Responsibilities

• Process and post all incoming and outgoing wire transfers.

You will assist in developing the skill sets of the Accounting Specialist. This role will assist with receiving, sorting, and proofing accounting documents, and posts to the accounting system. Process and post all incoming and outgoing wire transfers, handle member requests, prepare daily deposits and reconciliations. This position requires good organizational skills and a thorough knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles and the ability to apply them. A high degree of timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy are required to successfully execute this position. Continually reviews established systems, accounting policies and procedures and recommends improvements.Ensures policies are in accordance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.Ensure that records, statements, and reports are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and government regulations. Ensure that external document submissions and filings (including tax returns) are accurate and timely. Manage, automate, and simplify reporting and data collection activities relating to asset and liability activities, investment functions, and investment accounting functions.Keep related software systems current, efficient, and functional.Coordinate functions with other departments to convey and obtain required information. Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Assist and support Credit Union personnel.Respond to accounting questions and information needs. Any transactions which are outside the established purchasing policies are reported to the Vice President of Accounting and Finance or CFO. Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain information and to correct transactions.Assists and advises branch and department managers in handling issues surrounding accounting, budgeting, analyses, and reporting.Stay informed of trends and changes in the accounting field. Ensure the department work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Ensure that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained. Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required by the Vice President of Accounting and Finance or CFO.Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to Customer Identification Program (CIP). Attends required annual BSA training and required compliance training.Assist with all other duties as assigned or identified.
