Job summary

Unity Bank is seeking a Staff Accountant I to join the Finance team in Wilton, CT. The role focuses on general accounting functions, month-end close activities, and preparation of internal and board reports.

You will assist with SEC filings (10-Q/10-K) and regulatory reporting, while supporting ad-hoc requests and core ledger processes. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Excel is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
• Banking/regulatory/SEC reporting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Fiserv systems (Prologue, Premier Navigator) beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end close activity for Bank, Holding Co. and Subsidiaries.
• Analyze monthly financial statements and prepare management/board reports.
• Assist in SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K) and regulatory filings (Call Report).
• Support daily general ledger and core software integration.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for the Company's general accounting functions and preparation of internal management and board reports, as well as SEC and Regulatory Filings.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the following Finance department functions:

• Prepare month-end close activity, including but not limited to,
  • Loans
  • Deposits
  • Investments
  • Fixed Assets
  • Prepaids & Accruals
• Analyze monthly financial statements for the Bank, Holding Company, and its Subsidiaries
• Prepare monthly management and board of director reports
• Assist in preparing daily general ledger and core software integration
• Assist in preparing SEC filings, including 10-Q and 10-K
• Assist in preparing Regulatory filings, including Call Report
• Assist with ad-hoc requests from other departments, management, and auditors

Additional Functions

Perform other general accounting functions, assisting or acting as a backup including, but not limited to, the following:

• Assisting Accounting Operations, including but not limited to, Accounts Payable
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required
• Banking and regulatory/SEC reporting experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of Fiserv Systems, including Fiserv Prologue and Fiserv Premier Navigator
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
• Ability to effectively present and communicate information and respond timely to inquiries
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense logic and critical thinking to solve problems and make sound judgments and decisions.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
