Job summary

Foster McKay is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the monthly close process and financial reporting across multiple entities. You will own portions of the GL close, prepare journal entries, and perform reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and timelines.

You will collaborate with accounting and operations teams, assist with fixed assets, and participate in audits while seeking process improvements and maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred.
• 2+ years of GL and accounting experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own components of the monthly close and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Prepare workpapers and journal entries for close; post to ERP.
• Perform reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Support fixed asset activity, depreciation, retirements, and audits.
• Assist in ad-hoc reporting and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting accounting operations through ownership of key components of the monthly close process, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger activity. This role works closely with other members of the accounting and operations team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple entities and systems.

What would I be doing?

General Ledger & Month -End Close

• Own and support components of the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare workpapers and journal entries for month end close.
• Prepare prepaid & accrual workpapers, post to ERP.
• Sign off on required tasks in FloQast.
• Prepare a monthly & quarterly Profit and Loss Statements and Balance Sheets.
• Provide financial statements for consolidation purposes.
• Perform variance analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.

Reconciliations & Cash Management

• Perform daily reconciliations of bank accounts.
• Perform weekly reconciliations of credit card accounts.
• Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliation workpapers.
• Post cash to Sage & Procore.
• Work with Billing & A/P team to confirm all items are posted in ERP system.

Fixed Asset and Audit Support

• Provides accounting for fixed asset related activity to include asset additions, retirements, depreciation, cost of removal, and salvage.
• Assist in annual financial statement audit.
• Support accounting compliance and internal control initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

• Complete other ad-hoc requests, reporting and schedules for team.
• Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within accounting workflows.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information

What would make me qualified?

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA Designation preferred) from a 4-year college/university.
• Two+ years of related GL & Accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
