Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 2+ years accounting experience within a growing organization.
• Advanced Excel skills including databases and financial functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, including invoicing and payments.
• Manage accounts receivable, deposits, andcollections.
• Perform reconciliations and accruals for monthly/quarterly close.
• Support annual financial review process.
• Collaborate with finance team to prepare accurate financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with finance policy.
• Respond to vendor and customer inquiries.
• Assist with day-to-day tasks and procurement as needed.
• Assist in improving the overall close process.

Staff Accountant

Location: Tewksbury, MA (hybrid schedule)

Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Controller

Compensation: $75,000–$80,000 base + benefits (see below)

Your Role

Walden is seeking an experienced accountant to bring their hands on mindset and strong analytical skills to our small accounting team. This position will own day-to-day AP/AR management, track complicated inventory costs and be closely involved with the monthly and quarterly close cycles in this growing, inventory-based business. As Walden Local grows, there are opportunities to transform and improve the existing financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, including verifying and coding invoices, managing purchase orders, and initiating payment runs
• Manage accounts receivable, including preparing deposits and handling collections
• Perform reconciliations and accruals for the monthly and quarter-end closing process
• Provide support for the annual financial review process
• Work closely with members of Walden finance team to prepare timely and accurate financial statements
• Ensure compliance with the company finance policy
• Field questions from vendors and customers
• Assist other members of the team in day-to-day tasks, including placing supply orders
• Partner with other members of the finance team to improve the overall close process

Qualifications

• Extremely detail-oriented
• Willingness to get hands dirty and jump in to do whatever needs to get done
• Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
• BS degree or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years accounting experience
• Advanced Excel skills, including concepts of databases and using mathematical, logical, statistical and financial functions
