Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation is seeking an experienced accountant in Streator, IL to support month-end close, reconciliations and data entry for accounts payable. The role involves fixed asset work, capital project reporting, and collaboration with site engineering and external systems like Cognos.

You will prepare monthly management reports, maintain Power BI reporting, and assist in SOX-related updates. A Bachelor’s in Accounting and 3–5 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 3–5 years of accounting or related experience required.
• Experience with audit procedures and requirements preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software preferred (JDE).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for Vactor & non-Vactor business month-end close processes.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations.
• Perform data entry associated with accounts payable.

• Improve Capital Project reporting with site engineering on current and future projects, monthly reporting (Excel & Power BI).
• Support acquisition integration work (process changes, improvements, system migrations).
• Upload monthly information from purchased companies (Financials, trial balances, supplemental information) to Cognos.
• Prepare monthly management reporting.
• Maintain and improve Power BI reporting.
• Support other Accounting department members (Asst. Controller & Controller).
• Assist in SOX implementation/updates.

• Fixed Asset support (Generating new capital project numbers, reconciliations, journal entries)
• Improve existing Capital Project reporting through working with site engineering team on current projects, future plans and monthly reporting (Excel & Power BI based reporting).
• Support acquisition integration work (process changes, improvements, system migrations)
• Work with purchased companies on uploading monthly information (Financials, trial balances, supplemental information) to corporate systems (Cognos).
• Monthly management reporting preparation
• Maintain and improve Power BI reporting
• Support the other members of the Accounting department (including Asst. Controller & Controller)
• Assist in SOX implementation/updates

Experience And Skills Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 3-5 years of accounting or related experience required. Experience with audit procedures and requirements preferred
• Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software preferred (JDE)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
• Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Distinctly self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work under and meet deadlines and work with multiple priorities.

Salary Range for this position - $65-78k
