Job description

Our Client, located in the San Antonio area, has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant .

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepares analysis for Corporate and Segment Accounting Forecast Model, identifies variances, analyzes performance according to plan.
  • Interprets special financial report results and data prepared with financial statement classification using formulated policies and coordinated systems to mitigate risk.
  • Primary responsibility for monthly closing process, account analysis and month-end write ups. Documents account variance analysis on a monthly basis for internal reporting. Reviews the monthly general ledger for accuracy and makes corrections as needed.
  • Oversees journal entries for accruals, ledgers, closings, status reports, and other periodic reports. Ensures the suitability and effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Presents analysis, reports, and support to senior levels and external users relating to financial matters and operations.
  • Coordinates work of auditors and tax consultants with Accounting and other departments.
  • Works with their team, Corporate Accounting and Finance Serves to create annual budgets and update quarterly forecasts.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate assigned account transactions, assigned balance sheet and P&L analysis along with variance explanations/analysis and financial statement classifications.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Three years’ experience in a high transaction volume accounting or financial environment
  • Prior multi-unit /retail restaurant experience preferred
  • Three years’ experience in a high transaction volume accounting or financial environment
  • Prior multi-unit /retail restaurant experience preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience preferably in restaurant industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards (as applicable)
  • Ability to communicate well with the general public and experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, vendors, and co-workers
  • Ability to work in a team environment
