Job summary

Refuel Operating Company, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in North Charleston, SC. You will partner with the Accounting team, support month-end close, perform reconciliations, and manage journal entries with supporting documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, has strong US GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. This full-time role offers regular hours and opportunities for process improvement and collaboration with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and solid US GAAP knowledge.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables).
• Experience in accounting close processes and reconciliations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a partner to the Accounting team in developing and following processes and procedures
• Heavy involvement in the month-end close process
• Reconciliation of subledgers
• Posting of monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals
• Ownership of journal entry processing and coordination of supporting documentation
• Support and coordinate with external audit and tax partners
• Thoughtful reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as needed, including variance analysis
• Monthly sales tax calculations and investigation of any large variances
• Assist in supporting other team members, through teaching and collaboration
• Ad-hoc requests from management as needed
• Adhere to the Company’s established policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Working Hours: Regular hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Education and Experience: An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Thorough understanding of US GAAP
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office with emphasis in Excel (including, but not limited to complex formulas and pivot tables)
• Convenience store, fuel/gasoline industry experience is preferred, but not required

Working environment and physical requirements:

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to remain stationary.

Travel:

• Must be able to travel up to 10%.
