Job summary

Spring Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our hybrid NYC team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. You will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, assist with close cycles, maintain GL schedules, and analyze fluctuations. Strong US GAAP knowledge and AI fluency help improve processes while safeguarding confidential data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience in a high-growth environment.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and ERP systems (NetSuite a plus).
• Demonstrated AI fluency and ability to apply AI tools in work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and other recurring entries with complete supporting documentation.
• Own assigned bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve items promptly.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by completing tasks on schedule.
• Maintain general ledger schedules for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll, and other areas.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses; explain material activity clearly.
• Follow US GAAP, accounting policies, and internal controls; surface risks early.
• Document workflows and improve processes using systems, automation, and AI while protecting data.
• Contribute to finance system enhancements and special projects as needed.

Spring Health is actively seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will support our day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. This is a full-time, hybrid position with the expectation to be in office 1-2 days per month at our NYC Office. Occasional travel may be required for team or company events/meetings.

What you'll do:

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and other recurring entries with complete supporting documentation.
• Own assigned bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve or escalat open items promptly.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by completing assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain general ledger schedules for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll, and other assigned accounting areas.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses and clearly explain material or unusual activity. Partner with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A, Procurement, and business teams to improve the completeness and accuracy of financial data.
• Follow U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls; surface risks or inconsistencies before they affect reporting.
• Document recurring workflows and improve accounting processes through thoughtful use of systems, automation, and AI, while validating outputs and protecting confidential information.
• Contribute to finance system enhancements, special projects, and other priorities as the company and accounting organization scale.

What success looks like in this role:

• Assigned close work is completed by agreed deadlines and supports our company close
• At least one meaningful accounting workflow improvement is implemented or advanced each quarter, reducing manual effort, cycle time, or error risk.
• Finance and business partners receive timely, clear answers, and potential issues are surfaced before they affect reporting deadlines.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth environment
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and standard accounting principles
• Familiarity with enterprise ERP systems (Netsuite a plus) and advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software
• Demonstrated AI fluency and experience applying AI tools to increase the speed and quality of your work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders

Nice to have:

• Active pursuit of CPA licensure
• Experience in the healthcare or technology sector

The target base salary for this position is $66,500 - $83,085 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors
