Brown & Brown is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Minneapolis team and support the General Ledger Finance Team in delivering accurate financial results. The role includes monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations in line with policy.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 1–3 years of GL experience, and strong MS Office skills. Insurance brokerage experience is a plus and benefits include comprehensive coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of financial accounting.
• Proficiency in data entry and data management.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
• 1–3 years of full-cycle general ledger accounting experience (preferred).
• Insurance brokerage experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle month-end close functions in accounting software.
• Run monthly close reporting.
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet and other accounts monthly and as needed.
• Reconcile bank accounts and create financial reports based on data analytics.
• Support and manage interactions with internal and external auditors.
• Ensure all transaction support documentation is processed and filed accurately.
• Prepare and submit required documents in accordance with internal controls.
• Build courteous relationships with staff to maintain efficient practices.
• Promote teamwork and knowledge sharing within the department.
• Participate in training to stay current on industry and product developments.

Brown & Brown is seeking Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Minneapolis, MN!

This Staff Accountant position is responsible for supporting and assisting the General Ledger Finance Team in leading and delivering financial accounting results for Brown & Brown's Retail Accounting Center of Excellence. The role will focus on executing various aspects of financial accounting, including monthly close, preparing journal entries, account analysis, reporting, and account reconciliation activities, in accordance with established policy, procedures and objectives.

How You Will Contribute:

• Perform full-cycle month-end close functions in accounting software systems.
• Run monthly close reporting.
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly journal entries.

• Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverage, technology, and professional development, including continuing education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of financial accounting.
• Proficiency in data entry and data management.
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment, including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• One to three years of full-cycle general ledger accounting experience. (preferred)
• Insurance brokerage experience. (preferred)
