Job summary

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a growing food distribution organization to hire a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role reports directly to the CFO and offers exposure to all facets of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and business analysis in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• 1–3+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
• Experience within manufacturing, distribution, food production, or supply chain environments is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Analyze general ledger activity and assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Record and maintain asset, liability, revenue, and expense transactions.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities across departments.
• Partner with leadership to ensure management reporting requirements are met.
• Maintain accounting processes and procedures while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
• Evaluate inventory and operational controls to identify cost-saving and profitability improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, warehouse, sales, and administrative teams.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as needed.
