Job summary

GLS Auto is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform weekly and monthly bookkeeping, maintain financial reports, and support the accounting team. You will evaluate expenses, reconcile bank postings, close the month, and help implement process improvements.

This position is part of campus recruitment for May 2027, offering an entry-level path with growth in a fast-paced finance environment. Strong Excel and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong mathematical, computational, and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• High proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Power BI, SQL, or NetSuite is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player with ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

What does it mean to be a Staff Accountant at GLS?

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing general bookkeeping on a weekly and monthly basis, maintaining various financial reports and records, and providing support to the accounting team.

How will you drive value within the organization as a Staff Accountant?

• Evaluate and reconcile expenses, cash postings, and invoices for proper accounting treatment and payment, including customer refund and related customer billing processes
• Review prepared monthly bank reconciliations and assist in resolving variances
• Complete the monthly closing process including reconciliations and journal entries for Fiserv, payroll, receivables held for sale and others as required by management
• Evaluate processes for opportunities to improve efficiency, make recommendations for change, and support implementation of improved processes
• Work closely with other finance teams to resolve variances
• Accurately maintain electronic records and files

What should you already know to be successful in this role?

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
• Strong mathematical, computational, and analytical skills with a high-level attention to detail
• High proficiency in Excel required; proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required
• Experience with Power BI, SQL, and/or NetSuite a plus
• Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively set and manage multiple conflicting priorities

Employment Requirements:

• This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm
• Regular, predictable attendance is required, including evening and weekend work as business demands dictate
• The position does not require travel
• Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity
• Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the workday
• Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
