Job summary

Edelman Financial Engines (EFE) is seeking a Staff Accountant on the Accounting team to analyze and record financial transactions, and to complete financial controls such as balance sheet reconciliations and variance explanations. You will be a team player with strong analytical and interpersonal skills to help us maintain timely and accurate financials.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, 2+ years of accounting experience, and proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or candidate preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidential handling of sensitive information.
  • Experience with Oracle, NetSuite or MS Dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close for revenue and related areas to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support monthly/quarterly close for revenue, AR, and unbilled AR.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly/quarterly close.
  • Improve and refine processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain SOX compliance and internal control documentation.
  • Provide schedules, analyses, and variance trends as needed.
  • Handle ad-hoc projects as required.

As a Staff Accountant on the Accounting team, you’ll be responsible for analyzing and recording financial transactions and completing financial controls such as balance sheet reconciliations and month-over-month variance explanations. We are looking for a team player who is detail oriented with strong analytical and interpersonal skills to help us maintain timely and accurate financials. Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end close process for revenue and related assigned areas to ensure they are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with internal policies
  • Support the monthly & quarterly close processes for revenue, accounts receivable, & unbilled AR
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly/quarterly close
  • Continuously improve and refine existing processes and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy of team deliverables
  • Ensure compliance of financial reporting, internal controls, and maintain proper SOX documentations
  • Provide various schedules, analysis, and variance trend analysis as required
  • Perform ad-hoc/special projects as required
Job Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or candidate preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Analytical skills including ability to review large amounts of data
  • Understanding of revenue cycle systems and operations
  • Exceptional organization and time-management skills
  • Experience in, or exposure to, subsystems such as Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics
  • Must be comfortable independently evaluating a situation, exercising judgment, and independently making decisions.

Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is below. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.

Pay Range

$60,700 - $81,000 USD
