Job summary

Marzetti Company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the financial close, fixed assets, standard costing review, and freight cost analysis. You will maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations, and prepare data for audits.

The role requires 1–2 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in accounting. SAP S4/HANA experience and strong Excel skills are preferred, with an emphasis on accuracy and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Assist with physical inventory preparation, execution and reporting.
• Perform SOX controls timely and accurately.
• Assist with year-end closing and related schedules.
• Aid in gathering documentation for auditors.

Overview

Coordinates and perform various accounting duties related to the completion of the Financial Close Process. The Staff Accountant's key responsibilities include fixed assets support, standard costing review, analyzing freight costs, preparing related month-end journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, supporting general ledger month-end balances, and assisting with the preparation of data for internal and external audit requests.

Responsibilities → What You'll Do

• Perform entry level cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Organize monthly freight reconciliation process and complete freight related processing.
• Assist with monthly inventory analysis using multiple systems of source data.
• Reconcile fixed assets and capital project spend.
• Prepare and post monthly/quarterly/annual journal entries as assigned.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for related areas and other as deemed necessary.
• Assist with physical inventory preparation, execution, and reporting.
• Perform SOX controls on a timely and accurate basis.
• Assist with year-end closing and related schedules.
• Aid in the gathering of necessary documentation for both internal and external auditors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications → What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of related experience required.

• SAP S4/Hanna experience, preferred.

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• SharePoint Maintenance experience, preferred.

• Understanding of AS400 (Prism/JDE)

• Understanding and ability to adhere to GAAP.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills.
