Job summary

Solar Landscape, the leading commercial rooftop solar developer, seeks a Staff Accountant to join its Asbury Park team. You will handle financial accounting, budgeting analytics, and audit readiness in a fast-paced renewable energy environment.

This role supports monthly closes, reporting, and compliance while collaborating across functions. Hybrid work options and a collaborative culture are offered as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college and at least 2 years of experience.
• CPA and public accounting experience is preferred.
• Renewable energy industry or real estate accounting experience desired.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger; prepare and enter month end and other required journal entries
• Assist with reconciling investment, equity, debt and partners distributions
• Review monthly transactions and balances for accuracy
• Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and budgets
• Prepare work papers and reports for external auditing
• Prepare monthly management reports including Budget vs. Actual variances
• Assist with quarterly and annual reporting requirements and financial covenants
• Administer obligations under the project agreements
• Contribute to special projects and support ad hoc requests

About The Role

We are hiring a talented Staff Accountant to join our team. If you're excited to be part of a winning team, Solar Landscape is a great place to grow your career. The successful candidate will be one who is energetic, organized professional with an aptitude to work in a renewable energy company in a highly entrepreneurial environment. The position will involve responsibilities in all areas of financial accounting, budgeting activities, analytics and reporting, audit preparation, monitoring, and compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger; prepare and enter month end and other required journal entries
• Assist with reconciling investment, equity, debt and partners distributions
• Review and reconcile monthly transactions and balances for accuracy
• Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and budgets
• Prepare work papers and various reports for external auditing
• Preparation of monthly management reports, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports of portfolios under management and providing follow-up of significant variances
• Assist with completion of the quarterly and annual reporting requirements and financial covenants to various parties
• Administer obligations and responsibilities under the project agreements
• Contribute to the Company special projects and support ad hoc requests as assigned and support

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 2 years of experience; CPA and public accounting experience is preferred
• Prior experience with renewable energy industry or real estate accounting desired
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with different levels and functions of the organization as well as with external parties
• Ability to work independently in a team-oriented and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
• Ability to multitask and undertake complex tasks
• Project-oriented with a goal to complete assignments on time
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
