NOW HIRING: Staff Accountant

Department: Rush Financial Services

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the application and implementation of general accounting procedures and methods by collaborating with other staff in the company to provide financial accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization. This includes examining and reviewing financial records and ensuring data is allocated correctly, as well as preparation and analysis of financial reports and audits. The incumbent in this position is required to be highly organized, accurate in their work, detail-oriented, and task-driven. Additionally, this individual must be time-aware, responsive to tight deadlines, and willing to adhere to strict schedules.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support and process Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management tasks
  • Maintain and support organizational credit card program and related administrative tasks
  • Participate in month-end close processes
  • Prepare and process monthly/quarterly/annual state and local tax returns
  • Prepare journal entries and provide relevant support
  • Reconcile and problem-solve intercompany accounting across multiple businesses
  • Create and update general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Prepare bank account reconciliations
  • Support and implement systems and process improvements
  • Prepare and file 1099 tax returns
  • Participate in year-end processes for tax preparation/filing and financial reporting
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of various ad hoc financial reporting
Job Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of combined experience processing AP, AR, Job Cost, and Cash Management related tasks
  • Experience working with cost accounting software; such as Sage300 or similar
  • Strong math and critical thinking skills/functionality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Proficient with ten-key and keyboarding
  • Ability to keep company and customer confidences
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost allocation methods

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 (DOE)
