Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Texas seeks a skilled Structural Welder to join our shipyard team. You will weld structural steel plates, stiffeners, bulkheads and other vessel components for repair and new construction projects, reading blueprints and interpreting welding symbols.

You will prepare surfaces, perform welds per procedures, inspect results, and coordinate with fitters and supervisors while adhering to hot-work and PPE rules. Must pass welding tests, background check, and E-Verify.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read welding symbols and interpret written instructions.
• Experience welding structural components in shipyards or marine construction.
• Able to perform grinding, cleaning, and surface preparation.
• Capable of meeting welding qualifications and passing tests.
• Comfort with heights, confined spaces, bending and climbing.
• Attentive to safety, teamwork, and quality.

ResponsibilitiesWeld structural steel plates, stiffeners, bulkheads, and other vessel components for shipyard repair and new constructions projects.Read and intrepret bluepritns, welding symbols, and work specifications.Prepare welding surfaces and joints, including grinding, cleaning , and removing damaged material as assigned.Perform welding welds according to approved procedures and project specifications.Inspect completed welds and correct defects as directed.Work closely with structural fitters, supervisor, and trades to complete assigned work.Follow shipyard safety procedure, hot-work requirements, and personal protective equipment requirements.QualificationsPrevious structural welding experience in a shipyard or marine construction and repair.Ability to read welding symbols and follow written and verbal work instructions.Experience safely operating welding equipment, grinders, and related tools.Ability to meet required welding qualifications and pass applicable welding tests.Ability to perform essential job duties, including climbing, bending, and working at heights or in confined spaces assigned, with or without reasonable accommodation.Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to safety , teamwork, and quality.Employment RequirementsEmployment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check and required post -offer, pre-employment medical examinations.
