Position Summary

The Structural Restoration Services masonry repair technician will perform tasks involving physical labor at building construction projects as directed. This role combines operating machinery, controlling traffic, cleaning up job sites, and working with a team of laborers, masons, technicians and foremen.

Essential Functions
  • Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, measuring equipment, grinders, saws, screw guns, mixing equipment, chipping guns, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
  • Clean and prepare sites, clean up rubble and instruments
  • Assist other restoration technicians and other craft workers in performing their tasks.
  • Operate jackhammers, breakers, saws and/or drills to break up concrete, masonry, wood and metal floors, walls, decks, ceilings, and other structures
  • Mix, place, consolidate, and assist in forming, finishing, and stripping formwork for concrete, grout and other patching materials.
  • Install anchors, pins, connections, and embeds in masonry, concrete, wood and metal structures.
  • Transport, cut, bend, set, & tie rebar, wire mesh, and other reinforcing material
  • Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
  • Place cement and other materials into portable concrete and mortar mixers; and mix, pour, and place concrete, prepare and deliver materials to masons
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, transport, handling, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Tend machines that pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, plaster or stucco for application to ceilings and walls.
  • Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat or move materials.
  • Lubricate, clean, and maintain machinery, equipment, and tools
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Cleanup trash, rubble, and debris and transport to dumpsters or other receptacles as directed
  • Erect and disassemble shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, as directed.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Mix and apply materials for covering and cleaning masonry surfaces
  • Selectively and carefully remove building components and salvage useful materials for reuse
  • Assist with the transport, erection, and/or dismantling of scaffolds, swing stages, mast climbing access equipment, hoists, and other types of access
  • Be able to use and install all types of masonry, including but not limited to: brick, cmu (concrete block), natural stone, cast stone, masonry panels, and other materials to repair, construct and maintain walls, chimneys, fireplaces, soffits, arches and other architectural features, columns, piers, parapets, walkways, and other masonry structures.
  • Perform repointing of masonry mortar joints following industry standards, including but not limited to: using power and hand tools to remove the mortar without damaging the surrounding masonry surfaces; mixing, pre-hydrating, and installing new mortar in lifts; tooling the mortar joints to the proper configuration; moist curing the new mortar; and cleaning any excess mortar from the surrounding masonry surfaces for a clean, fresh completed look
  • Build corner leads, walls, and other masonry structures plumb, level, and in alignment as required by the project.
  • Must have some knowledge and be sensitive to the care and respect with which historic masonry must be treated.
  • Drill, cut, and shape masonry components as required.
  • Must be able to read and then construct/repair masonry in accordance with project drawings (blueprints), specifications, details, directives, addenda, and other information provided by the SRS field supervision.
  • Install masonry anchors of all types and manufacturers, including but not limited to: helical ties, expansion anchors, epoxy anchors, stone anchors, wall ties, and others.
  • Must habitually read product Data Sheets and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and any other important product information provided, prior to use of each product.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by Structural Restoration Services supervision, including tasks listed under Concrete Repair Technician, Caulking & Waterproofing Technician, or Laborer, if required.

  • Is free of influence from drugs and alcohol
  • Calls in to immediate supervisor when unable to arrive at work on time

  • Understands that you represent the culture and values of SRS, and therefore acts professionally and courteously to ALL persons on the jobsite or elsewhere.
  • Wears safety equipment (i.e., hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, and respiratory protection at minimum) as required, without being told.
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently, and treats them with care.
  • Has his/her own set of hand tools in compliance with safety
  • Assists Technicians, Foremen, and Leadmen in performing work, as directed
  • Keeps jobsites clean and organized
Physical Demands
  • Moves materials in a safe, careful, and organized
  • Can lift up to 100 pounds in a safe manner
  • Performs other duties as requested by SRS management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced education or certifications in construction management or related fields.
  • Experience with drone technology and software for project tracking.
Travel

Occasional travel to job sites and/or training sessions may be required, including out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
