Job summary

Google’s Core AI Foundations SRE team seeks a seasoned leader to hire, grow, and mentor a North American SRE team focused on reliable AI infrastructure. You will partner with development teams and our Sydney counterpart to run follow-the-sun operations and ensure exceptional reliability for frontier AI capabilities.

You will guide architecture, drive incident response, and collaborate across Dev, PM, and leadership to build scalable, fault-tolerant systems powering Gemini, Workspace, NotebookLM,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in software development or equivalent.
• 3+ years designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years managing engineering teams, including performance management and career development.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and mentor a high-performing SRE team.
• Set team goals, prioritize resources, and define technical roadmaps.
• Guide architecture and review of resilient, high-performance systems for AI infrastructure.
• Drive incident response and automate operational toil.
• Partner across development teams to align technical direction and accelerate productivity.
