Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Wealth Strategist in Denver to grow our UHNW client base by building lasting relationships and delivering comprehensive investment management services.

You will collaborate with a team of experts to tailor wealth solutions, including estate planning, fiduciary services, and tax planning. A strong network of COIs and a track record in sales are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of sales and relationship management experience, preferably with wealth management clients.
  • Strong network of Centers of Influence (COIs) for UHNW individuals and families.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary capabilities and services (trusts, estates, tax planning).
  • Ability to profile a client’s financial landscape and tailor solutions across the firm’s capabilities.
  • Willingness to spend time understanding both the client and Northern Trust offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy for targeted new client base.
  • Cultivate UHNW relationships and new investment management opportunities.
  • Promote wealth management solutions to clients and advisors.
  • Provide long-term consultative guidance on estate planning and tax strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to address evolving client needs.

As a key business development sales role, the Wealth Strategist position supports our growth by cultivating new relationships with individuals, families, non‑profit institutions, and other entities.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement a business development strategy and approach for your targeted new client base.
  • Work with ultra high net worth individuals, families and businesses to cultivate new investment management relationships in the UHNW client space.
  • Share and support our goals‑driven wealth management approach to both prospective and current clients to develop new business.
  • Take a long‑term consultative approach with clients (and their representatives including attorneys) on the benefits of estate planning services, utilizing knowledge of wealth transfer and tax planning strategies.
  • Check in regularly with clients and act as liaison to Northern Trust as their needs evolve.
  • Cultivate internal and external personal and professional networks to identify new client relationships.
  • Showcase the full capabilities and services of Northern Trust to members of the community, clients (new and existing) and professional advisors.
  • Work with a full team of respected experts to provide support, understand potential clients’ needs and showcase how Northern Trust can help them.
What Makes You Successful
  • 10 or more years of sales and relationship management experience, preferably working with wealth management clients.
  • Strong network of Centers of Influence (COIs) for ultra‑high net worth individuals and families, including attorneys, estate planning professionals, and CPAs.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary capabilities and services (personal trusts, living trusts, wills, investment management, custody, financial consulting, estate and tax planning), including fee structures and documentation.
  • Ability to profile a client’s financial landscape and needs to determine how best to advise and deliver solutions across the full span of Northern Trust capabilities.
  • Willingness to spend time understanding both the client and what Northern Trust can offer to bring success to the client.
Qualifications
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses are required.
  • Additional professional designations such as CFP, CFTA, CFA, CIMA are strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $137,400 - 240,400 USD (base pay estimate).
  • Comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits.
  • Discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
