Responsibilities
  1. Develop a comprehensive personal and financial wealth profile for clients and their families, identifying wealth‑related life goals in collaboration with the Lead Relationship Manager as applicable.
  2. Design and implement wealth plans that integrate wealth management, wealth transfer, and tax‑efficiency goals, in collaboration with clients’ professional advisors and Northern partners.
  3. Collaborate with Regional Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, Trust Advisors, bankers and other Northern Trust professionals to implement client wealth plans.
  4. Monitor and periodically update client wealth plans.
  5. Assist in the sales process and identify opportunities to expand client relationships through the introduction of new Northern Trust products and services.
  6. Serve as a mentor to Associate Wealth Advisors and Wealth Advisors.
  7. Actively cultivate professional advisor relationships, attending and participating in professional conferences and networks.
  8. Operate independently with deep knowledge of the business unit/function.
  9. Provide comprehensive, in‑depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.
  10. Carry out large‑scale, cross‑functional, technically difficult activities.
  11. Balance high‑level operational execution with strategic direction of business function activities.
  12. Conduct preliminary analysis.
  13. Interact directly with committees and/or management.
  14. Develop, implement and administer programs within functional areas.
Qualifications
Knowledge

Strong knowledge of wealth transfer planning, taxation, estate planning solutions, wealth management products and services, typically acquired through extensive experience with high/ultra‑high net worth clients in financial services, law, or consulting. Broad technical and analytical skills in wealth planning, wealth transfer, tax, philanthropy, fiduciary practice, asset location, and preservation, as well as strong interpersonal and consultative skills.

Experience

5-7 years of wealth planning experience working with high/ultra‑high net worth individuals and families in a comprehensive capacity. Advanced educational and professional designations such as CFP, JD, MBA, or equivalent advanced learning and consulting qualifications are desired.

Salary Range

$189,290 – 331,200 USD. Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401(k) and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. A discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component is also available.
