Job summary

FedEx seeks a Maintenance Technician to provide timely and quality maintenance for its vehicle fleet and ground support equipment in Dallas. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and document work meticulously.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 4 years of fleet/automotive experience, and FMCSA qualifications. ASE Master certification is preferred, and you must pass medical and drug testing and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Four years of fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle maintenance experience.
• ASE Master certification preferred.
• Must meet FMCSA section 391 qualifications; medical exam and drug testing.
• Must have basic hand tools including metric sizes; ability to lift 50 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely maintenance on FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid systems.
• Document maintenance and inspection activities accurately.
• Use automotive testing equipment and gauges as part of diagnostics.
• Work safely and in compliance with FMCSA and FedEx policies; pass medical and drug testing.

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Four (4) Years Fleet, Automotive Or Truck Vehicle Maintenance Experience And Applicable Licenses/Vocational Training. Knowledge Of The Use And Operation Of All Automotive Equipment And Testing Equipment, Gauges And Tools Normally Associated With The Troubleshooting And Repair Of Hydraulic, Gasoline And Diesel Automotive Equipment. Possession Of A Complete Set Of Hand Tools, Including Metric Sizes. Ability To Work Without Supervision For Extended Time Periods. Must Be Able To Lift And Maneuver Heavy Vehicle Components. Must Meet Qualifications As Outlined In Section 391 Of The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Requires Medical Exam In Accordance With Fhwa Or Faa Regulations. Subject To Regulatory Alcohol And Drug Testing Which Includes Testing For Marijuana, Pcp, Amphetamines, Cocaine, And Opiates.

Minimum Education

High school diploma/GED. Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred. ASE Master certification preferred.

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years fleet, automotive or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with the troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and/or hybrid motorized equipment. Proficient skills in operating a personal computer. Demonstration of teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

Job Conditions

Possession of basic set of automotive hand tools including metric sizes. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and maneuver any weight above 50 pounds with assistance on a regular basis. Ability to work without supervision for extended time periods. Must be able to work in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated work area. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Must be willing to work any shift. Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence. Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Medical exam required. FMCSA-covered safety sensitive position. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids. Non-covered safety-sensitive position.
