Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, civil engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years' experience in architecture/engineering with focus on urban planning.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and related design software.
  • Strong understanding of zoning and land-use regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Description

As a Sr. Urban Planner at Sustainability Engineering Group (SEG), you will play a pivotal role in the development of urban landscapes, guiding projects from conception to execution. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to create functional and aesthetically pleasing urban spaces while ensuring their adherence to regulatory and environmental standards.

About the job:
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement urban planning strategies and concepts.
  • Conduct site analyses, including assessments of existing infrastructure, land use, and environmental factors.
  • Participate in community engagement and stakeholder meetings to gather input and feedback.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing, drafting, and coordinating the production of plans on various land development project types.
  • Program Management: Communicate and coordinate effectively with sub-consultants, developers, and other various stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Plan and execute the entitlement process on several projects simultaneously, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Oversee and manage the entire scope of the entitlement process, including, but not limited to pre-application consultation, project proposal, zoning review, application submission, public notice and hearings, staff review, planning commission or advisory board review, and municipal approvals.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive urban planning proposals, reports and project reviews to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate the evaluation and impacts of proposed developments on transportation, utilities, and the environment.
  • Stay up to date with zoning regulations, land use policies, and urban planning best practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, landscape architects and engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable and resilient urban design principles.
  • Support the project management team in budgeting and scheduling tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the architecture and engineering industry with a focus on urban planning.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning codes, and land use regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of sustainable urban design practices and principles is a plus.
