Job summary

KPFF is seeking a Sr. Transportation Engineer/Project Manager in Seattle to lead multi-disciplinary, multi-office transportation projects across Washington.

The role combines civil engineering expertise with strategic project management, client relationships, and team leadership. You will oversee planning, design, budgeting, permitting, construction oversight, and closeout while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with subconsultants and KPFF staff to deliver high-quality infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Washington State.
  • Minimum 10 years of civil/transportation engineering with Washington project management experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D; familiarity with MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards for Washington transportation projects.
  • Permitting experience with various municipalities.
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative skills.
  • Commitment to deliver quality work and mentoring younger staff.

KPFF’s Washington Division Transportation Group is looking for an experienced Transportation Civil EngineeringPrimeProject Manager to lead impactful projects and drive our team forward. This senior role includes the leadership and management of transportation projects across Washington, overseeing client relationships, business development, anddesignteam management. You will work closely with local municipalities, and transit agencies, helping to drive KPFF’s commitment to quality in regional infrastructure.This role is designed for a proficient civil engineering professional who excels in both engineering and project management.

As a Project Manager at KPFF, you willbe responsible forthe full project lifecycle, fromproject pursuits and interviews, throughinitialplanning,executionand closeout, ensuring projects meet client expectations, budget, and schedule requirements.Asthe Prime ProjectManager,you will manage theentiredesign team consisting oftrustedsubconsultant partners andtalentedKPFF design staff.

Lead Full Project Lifecycle Management: Manage all phases oftransportationprojects, including planning, design, budgeting, permitting, construction oversight, and project closeout, while ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.

Provide Technical Expertise and Oversight: Oversee advanced engineering design and calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Direct teams in the preparation of complex drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

Drive Client Relationships and Business Development: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and expectations.Identifynew business opportunities, contribute to proposal development, and support business growth through networking and project success.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the permitting process, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and ensure that all projects meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Mentor and Lead Project Teams: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering professional growth and a collaborative project environment. Delegate tasks effectively whilemaintaininghigh standardsof quality.

Manage Project Schedules, Budgets, and Resources: Develop andmaintainproject schedules, track project budgets, andallocateresources efficiently to ensure project milestones are achieved within scope and cost parameters.

Promote Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry advancements and integratenew technologiesand methods to enhance project efficiency and client satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Washington Staterequired
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil/transportation engineering, with a strong background in Washington project management.
  • Proficiencyin AutoCAD Civil3Drequired;MicroStation, andOpenRoadsfamiliarity is a plus.
  • Knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the design and construction oftransportationprojects in Washington
  • Permittingexperience with various municipalities

Physical Demands:

  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected annual salary for a qualified candidate is $130,000 - $200,000.

Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center. During the interview process, we'll provide detailed information and address any questions you may have about the overall compensation package and benefits.
