THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE
The Sr. Transportation Analyst is a key analytical and strategic partner to the Ecommerce Transportation team, responsible for driving transportation performance, optimization, and continuous improvement across Ulta Beauty’s ecommerce network. The role leverages transportation data and business insights to identify trends, diagnose root causes, quantify opportunities, and develop recommendations that improve delivery speed, service, cost, capacity, and the Guest experience.
The Sr. Transportation Analyst works closely with carriers and cross-functional partners across Transportation, Technology, Store Operations, Supply Chain Planning, and Digital to solve complex business challenges and implement meaningful improvements. The role leads and supports transportation optimization initiatives, carrier performance management, PSFA and peak forecasting, peak planning, and cost optimization while managing multiple projects and deliverables and translating complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY
- Drive ecommerce transportation performance improvement — use transportation performance data and reporting to identify trends, diagnose root causes, quantify opportunities, and recommend actions to improve delivery speed, reliability, carrier performance, and Guest experience.
- Translate transportation analytics into business decisions — leverage team reporting, dashboards, and performance insights to develop clear recommendations for the Sr. Manager and cross-functional partners; proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Support carrier performance management — analyze carrier performance, service issues, exceptions, and trends to identify root causes and improvement opportunities; develop fact-based insights for carrier business reviews and track corrective actions and commitments.
- Lead transportation cost optimization — analyze cost per shipment, carrier mix, rates, surcharges, accessorials, and invoice information to identify opportunities to improve transportation economics; quantify potential savings and track results.
- Lead transportation optimization and continuous improvement initiatives — independently manage analytical workstreams and cross-functional projects designed to improve cost, service, capacity, delivery speed, and network efficiency; develop recommendations, support implementation, and measure outcomes.
- Own PSFA and peak forecasting — develop and maintain shipment forecasts using historical performance, business growth, seasonality, promotional activity, service mix, and other relevant inputs; translate forecasts into transportation requirements and identify potential capacity or service risks.
- Lead analytical support for peak transportation planning — partner with Supply Chain Planning, Operations, carriers, and other stakeholders to identify peak risks and develop mitigation plans; monitor execution and proactively surface issues throughout peak.
- Support transportation strategy and network initiatives — evaluate transportation impacts of new fulfillment methods, carrier services, network changes, and other strategic initiatives; develop business cases and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Lead cross-functional problem solving — partner with Technology, Store Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Digital, and other teams to investigate transportation issues, align on solutions, and drive implementation through measurable results.
- Prepare leadership and carrier-ready insights — translate complex transportation findings into concise presentations, recommendations, and business updates for leadership meetings, carrier QBRs, and cross-functional forums.
THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a logistics/distribution/supply chain environment.
- Must be comfortable learning new software.
- Project management experience is required.
- SmartSheet skills are preferred
- Strong analytical skills are required.
- Previous experience in managing vendors/carriers is preferred.
- Experience in process improvement and best practices is preferred.
- Self-motivated with strong organization and follow-up skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate situations and make informed decisions.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.
- Ability to communicate with carriers and DCs over the telephone and Teams meetings.
- Maintains a professional image in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends when needed.
- Flexibility in daily task assignments as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Six days per month in the Ulta Beauty Corporate Office in Bolingbrook, IL.

The pay range for this position is $79,900.00 - $102,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.
