Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Health in Rapid City is seeking a qualified professional to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality therapeutic services. You will lead and contribute to the development of a positive therapeutic environment while working with individuals, couples, and families.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in social work or counseling, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and is licensed as CSW-PIP. Experience working with American Indian populations is preferred.

Job Summary

This position will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals to provide high-quality therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families within a clinical setting at Oyate Health Center (OHC). The role includes demonstrating expertise in therapeutic techniques, providing leadership for junior therapists, and contributing to the development and maintenance of a positive and effective therapeutic environment.

Essential Functions

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients to diagnose and develop treatment plans.
• Provide evidence‑based individual, group, and family therapy services.
• Resolve intra‑clinic complaints, conflicts, and therapeutic issues within the clinic setting.
• Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's unique needs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to all relevant legal and ethical standards.
• Provide guidance to therapists and interns, offering support and feedback to enhance their therapeutic skills.
• Facilitate regular clinical supervision meetings.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with relatives.
• Monitor and evaluate relatives' progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Ensure relatives receive the highest quality of care and support their mental health goals.
• Prepare and submit required reports to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Stay current with developments in the field of mental health and therapy.
• Pursue ongoing education and training to enhance therapeutic skills.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care for relatives.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards established by professional organizations and licensing boards.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of relatives' information.

Requirements

• Participate in Core Connections training and apply GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in work.
• Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
• Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and all required certificates, credentials, or licenses current and compliant with applicable federal, state, and/or grant regulations.
• Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
• Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
• Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education and Relevant Experience: Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field and three (3) years of relevant experience. Supervisory/management experience requires at least three (3) years of supervisory/management experience.
Licensed as CSW‑PIP with a minimum of two years experience.
This is a senior professional and/or management position that requires post‑secondary education and/or considerable experience or a clinical degree requiring a clinical rotation/internship. Individuals must have applicable education and/or experience applying principles, concepts, and methodology of a professional or administrative occupation to permit the independent performance of recurring assignments or carrying out difficult/complex assignments, operations, and procedures; or applicable education and/or experience applying a wide range of technical methods, principles, and practices similar to a narrow area of a professional field such as the design and planning of difficult, but well‑precedented projects.
