Job summary

Symbotic, a leader in AI-powered robotic automation, seeks a Senior Test Engineer (EE) to spearhead development and deployment of comprehensive manufacturing test solutions for complex electromechanical systems. You will drive test architecture, fixtures, PCBA design, and cross-site deployment with CM partners.

The role requires 8+ years in electrical hardware design, strong debugging skills, and leadership capabilities to mentor engineers and push test strategies from concept to production.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical hardware design or system validation.
  • Expertise in schematic capture and PCBA design using Altium or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in board bring-up, soldering, rework, and component-level debugging.
  • Strong understanding of analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, signal integrity, EMI/noise, grounding, and protection.
  • Experience with electrical test instrumentation: oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, DAQ systems.
  • Experience designing manufacturing test fixtures with relays, multiplexers, interface boards, and automated measurement systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for test automation.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments and working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • Familiarity with CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet and related debugging tools.
  • Experience with data logging, databases, test result analytics and failure trend analysis.
  • Experience with embedded systems, sensors, motors or electromechanical products.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects, drive execution and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of electrical schematics, PCBs, and interface boards for test fixtures and validation systems.
  • Own end-to-end hardware bring-up including component selection, schematic/layout reviews, soldering/rework and board-level debugging.
  • Architect scalable test systems involving power distribution, relays, multiplexing, signal conditioning, DAQ, and instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain automated test software and frameworks (Python preferred) for instrument control and data logging.
  • Perform advanced electrical debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power analyzers and protocol analyzers.
  • Lead deployment and production support across internal sites and CM partners; troubleshoot, improve yield and perform failure analysis.
  • Analyze test data, failures and field issues to improve product reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Define test strategies, validation plans and manufacturing test requirements for NPI.
  • Collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams to solve technical challenges.
  • Lead projects and coordinate timelines, deliverables and deployment readiness.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish engineering best practices and debugging methodologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test architecture, fixture reliability, automation and operations.

What we do

We areseekinga highly motivated and hands‑on Senior TestEngineer(EE)to lead the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of manufacturing test solutions for complex electromechanical and robotic systems. This roleis responsible fordriving electrical test architecture, developing scalable manufacturing test fixtures, supporting PCBA and hardware design, and leading deployment activities across internal manufacturing sites and Contract Manufacturers (CMs).

The ideal candidate has strong experience in hardware design, electrical debugging, automation, and manufacturing support, along with proven leadership capabilities. This individual will lead technical projects, mentor junior engineers, collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, and Operations teams, and drive test strategy from concept through production deployment.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the design and development of electrical schematics, PCBAs, and interface boards for manufacturing test fixtures and validation systems.

  • Own end-to-end hardware bring-up activities includingcomponentselection, schematic reviews, layout reviews, soldering/rework, and board‑level debugging.

  • Architect and develop scalable manufacturing test systems involving power distribution, relays, multiplexing, signal conditioning, DAQ systems, and measurement instrumentation.

  • Develop andmaintainautomated test software and frameworks (Python preferred) for instrument control, test execution, data logging, and production diagnostics.

  • Perform advanced electrical debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power analyzers, and protocol analyzers to isolate board‑level and system‑level failures.

  • Lead manufacturing deployment and production support activities across internal sites and Contract Manufacturers (CMs), including troubleshooting, yield improvement, and failure analysis.

  • Analyze test data, production failures, and field issues to drive improvements in product reliability, test coverage, and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Definetest strategies, validation plans, and manufacturing test requirements for new product introductions (NPI).

  • Collaborate closely with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve system performance.

  • Lead technical projects and coordinate execution timelines, deliverables, and deployment readiness.

  • Mentor andprovidetechnical guidance to junior engineers and technicians, helpingestablishengineering best practices and debugging methodologies.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for test architecture, fixture reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.

What you’ll need
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum of 8 years of hands‑on experience in electrical hardware design, manufacturing test engineering, or system validation.

  • Strongexpertisein schematic capture, PCBA design, and hardware development using tools such as Altium, or equivalent.

  • Extensive experience in board bring‑up, soldering, rework, and component‑level debugging.

  • Experience with production diagnostics, reliability testing, and root cause analysis methodologies.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fixture ergonomics, and design‑for‑test (DFT) principles.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $125,000.00 - $171,600.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
