Job summary

Waymo is seeking a System Software Engineer for the Telematics unit, a Linux-based gateway handling real-time data flow and OTA updates for the autonomous vehicle fleet.

Join Waymo Onboard Infrastructure to collaborate with Hardware, Compute, Sensor, Perception and ML teams, developing secure, high-performance system software for driverless vehicles. The role emphasizes low-level software, verification, and cross-functional problem solving.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing, debugging, and deploying software in Linux.
• Strong understanding of IP-based networking in Linux.
• Experience with Embedded Linux build systems and devices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy production-grade system software components for driverless vehicles.
• Maintain and upgrade Telematics unit OS, kernel, drivers and services.
• Design robust networking solutions for data transfer over wifi and cellular.
• Design and implement testing methodologies and infrastructure for reliability and security of low-level software.
