Children's National Hospital in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Senior Technology Trainer to partner with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and IS stakeholders to design and deliver an enterprise technology training program. You will help staff become proficient in the Epic EHR and related applications, advancing safety and care delivery.

Reporting to the Manager of Technology Training and Adoption, you will implement a continuous learning model, support go-lives, and monitor effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health care, education, information technology, or related field required.
  • Master’s or advanced degree is advantageous.
  • Epic certification within 6 weeks of completing training (required).
  • 5+ years in clinical, operational, revenue cycle, or IT training with health IT tools.
  • 3+ years in onboarding, curriculum development, and training delivery in health care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and design training curricula for diverse user groups across clinical, operational, and administrative areas.
  • Deliver instructor-led, e-learning, and live/recorded content; ensure materials align with workflows.
  • Coordinate logistics for system go-lives, upgrades and test environments.
  • Monitor training effectiveness using metrics and drive user adoption.
  • Collaborate with IS, department leaders, and vendors to meet user needs.
  • Maintain training materials and provide ongoing coaching and support.

This pivotal role, reporting to the Manager of Technology Training and Adoption, will have the opportunity to be part of an Epic-certified training team who will ensure all Children's National staff are well-prepared and proficient in using our new Epic electronic health record and related applications. You will help implement a continuous learning model to advance user adoption and system mastery. Your expertise in health care workflows, information technology, and instructional design will empower our staff to leverage technology with competence and confidence, improving patient safety, care delivery, business processes, and the overall experience for patients, families, and colleagues every day.Join us in making a lasting impact and help our patients Grow Up Stronger.Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree Undergraduate degree in health care, education, information technology, health care administration, or a related field . (Required)Master's Degree Master’s or other advanced degree in health care, education, information technology, health care administration, or a related field is advantageous. (Preferred)Minimum Work Experience5 years Minimum of five years of clinical, operational, revenue cycle, technical, and/or training experience with health information technology, including electronic health records and other clinical or practice management applications. Experience with the Epic EHR is advantageous. (Required)3 years Three years of experience in staff onboarding, adult education, curriculum development, instructional design, and/or training delivery, preferably in a health care setting. (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeManagement: Skilled in contributing to high-performing teams, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture, promoting trust and transparency, and adhering to health care regulations and organizational policies and procedures.Management:Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences through various channels, including static and dynamic pre-recorded and live content delivery, prioritizing user experience.Interpersonal: Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with clinical, operational, administrative, and technical stakeholders and leaders across clinical departments and business units.Project Management: Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives simultaneously, including overseeing successful and fast-paced implementations of enterprise software including the electronic health record (EHR).Education: Knowledgeable in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles. Proficient in using e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms. Demonstrated experience enabling end user competency, confidence, continuous learning, and system mastery.Technical: Strong expertise in health information technology, including electronic health records and related systems. Familiarity with cross-venue clinical workflows and health care operations, including revenue cycle, analytics, and other business processes.Required Licenses and CertificationsThis position requires that the appropriate Epic certification be successfully obtained and maintained for the assigned area of responsibility within 6 weeks of completing training, if not obtained prior to hire. 180 Days (Required)Functional AccountabilitiesLeadership & StrategyDemonstrate commitment to the EHR training and adoption strategy.Collaborate with IS and department leaders to align training efforts with organizational goals.Provide daily support and guidance to junior training staff and assist in onboarding credentialed trainers and super users.Training Program DevelopmentDesign and deliver training curricula for assigned user groups across clinical, operational, and administrative areas.Ensure materials are current, role-specific, and aligned with organizational standards and workflows.Training EnvironmentsSupport the maintenance and integrity of training environments and test patient content.Assist in creating realistic, scenario-based training experiences.Implementation & Go-Live ReadinessCoordinate training logistics and execution for system go-lives and upgrades.Work with IS and project teams to ensure users are prepared and supported during transitions.Change ManagementStay informed on system updates and incorporate changes into training sessions.Support change management efforts by promoting new features and addressing user concerns.Performance MonitoringUse established metrics to assess training effectiveness and user adoption.Spend time regularly in clinical and operational areas to observe system use, identify gaps, and provide coaching.CollaborationCollaborate with IS teams, department leaders, and vendors to ensure training meets user needs.Promote communication and knowledge sharing across teams.DocumentationMaintain and update training materials, user guides, and support resources.Ensure resources are accessible and support multiple communication channels.The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children’s National compensation philosophy.
