Job summary

Coho Consulting Group seeks a Senior Technical Writer to lead documentation for the SOCOM Information Environment at Fort Bragg, NC. The role develops, edits, and maintains complex technical documents in coordination with Government stakeholders and SMEs to ensure accuracy and compliance with contracts and quality standards.

The position requires TOP-SECRET clearance, advanced writing and editing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent government program management experience may substitute formal education.
  • Advanced writing, editing, proofreading, and document management skills are required.
  • Experience creating technical documentation for complex IT environments is required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and MS Office Suite is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of technical documentation supporting Government IT programs.
  • Develop, edit, and standardize SOPs, work instructions, templates, manuals, and technical guides.
  • Coordinate documentation efforts across multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and maintain documentation portal dashboards supporting Government contract administration.
  • Develop dashboards to monitor contractor performance, SLAs, and QA metrics.
  • Ensure documentation complies with Government standards.
  • Collaborate with Government SMEs to collect and organize technical information.
  • Review and edit documents for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Maintain document version control and repositories.
  • Support process improvement through standardized documentation.
  • Assist with documentation reviews, audits, and QA activities.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed on time.

Job description

Coho Consulting Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to lead technical writing and documentation efforts supporting the SOCOM Information Environment (SIE) in Fort Bragg, NC. This position develops, edits, standardizes, and maintains complex technical documentation while collaborating with Government stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure documentation meets contractual, operational, and quality standards.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Lead development of technical documentation supporting Government IT programs.
  • Develop, edit, and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, templates, manuals, and technical guides.
  • Coordinate documentation efforts across multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and maintain documentation portal dashboards supporting Government contract administration.
  • Develop dashboards used to monitor contractor performance, SLAs, and Quality Assurance metrics.
  • Ensure technical documentation complies with Government documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with Government SMEs to collect, validate, and organize technical information.
  • Review and edit technical documents for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Maintain document version control and document repositories.
  • Support process improvement initiatives through standardized documentation.
  • Assist with documentation reviews, audits, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Security Clearance
    • Active Top-Secret Clearance required
  • Education and Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant government program management experience may be substituted for formal education
    • Advanced writing, editing, proofreading, and document management skills
    • Experience creating technical documentation for complex IT environments
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated Knowledge & Experience
    • Technical writing methodologies and documentation standards
    • Development of SOPs, work instructions, templates, and process documentation
    • Government document lifecycle management
    • Quality assurance documentation practices
    • Documentation portals and collaboration tools
    • Information gathering through interviews with technical personnel and Government stakeholders
    • Editing technical documents for consistency, readability, and compliance
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting SOCOM or other Department of Defense organizations
    • Familiarity with SharePoint or Government collaboration portals
    • Experience supporting IT Service Management (ITSM) environments
