Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks an experienced avionics test engineer within the ACP organization. You will test and troubleshoot avionics, manage data acquisition, and ensure readiness of test systems for engine development and validation.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Blue Origin is self-funding rapid development of multiple in-space flight systems - over a range of sizes, propellant types, and technical challenge.

This position resides within the Avionics & Control Products (ACP) organization, part of the Engine Business Unit. As part of the ACP Product Execution team, you will test, troubleshoot, and deliver avionics to meet our engine build and launch goals.

The test systems will provide an environment to integrate the electronics and software for system development, verification, and validation. This will include software simulations and hardware emulators, as well as software for interfacing with these simulators and emulators.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the setup, integration, execution, and review of avionics tests, including shock, vibration, thermal, and EMI campaigns

  • Coordinate with technicians for the execution of these campaigns

  • Support a development environment with open box testing and card to card level testing

  • Perform checkout and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and test equipment

  • Create, review, and release test work orders.

  • Configure and operate data acquisition systems, and associated instrumentation

  • Analyze test data, generate test reports, and disposition anomalies in collaboration with design, test, and quality engineering

  • Maintain test equipment calibration, facility readiness, and compliance with AS9100 and internal quality management system requirements


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 year Associates degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology

  • 8+ years of industry experience with electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures

  • Procient in the use of standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and desire for continuous improvement


Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S degree in electrical engineering

  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC testing per MIL-STD-461 test methods

  • Working knowledge of digital circuits, analog circuits, computers, microprocessors, and networks

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Windchill, JIRA) and digital work order execution systems

  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification, or NASA workmanship standards experience

Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $124,476.00 - $174,265.35

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
