Amazon's Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) team leads the company’s sustainability initiatives through applied science, data analytics, and strategic research to support Amazon’s long-term global sustainability strategy.

You will coordinate multi-stakeholder programs, manage internal alignment, drive external partnerships with research institutions and industry bodies, and own the program roadmap from planning to executive reporting, bridging science, product, and business strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own stakeholder engagement across teams within WWS and SSI - securing data and resource commitments, aligning on shared deliverables, and maintaining consistent messaging across all stakeholder touchpoints
• Drive data and information-sharing agreements across teams, including access governance; facilitate joint planning sessions and translate program outputs into team-level action plans
• Manage the operational cadence of Amazon's external research partnerships - including academic institutions, national laboratories, and government-funded research programs - tracking deliverables and milestones
• Own the program roadmap - translating science and engineering priorities into a sequenced set of data products and decision-support tools; drive the program's weekly and quarterly update cadence to Director-level stakeholders; negotiate resources and priorities across contributing teams and unblock work before it stalls
• Build and maintain governance structures for program operations, including data access policies, budget tracking, and decision logs; identify and proactively resolve operational bottlenecks before they impact program timelines

Amazon's Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) team works to build a sustainable business for our customers and the planet. Within WWS, the Sustainability Science & Innovation (SSI) team advances Amazon's sustainability commitments through applied science, data analytics, and strategic research programs - translating complex environmental and supply chain challenges into actionable intelligence for Amazon's business units.

You'll lead cross-organizational coordination and external collaboration for a high-priority sustainability science programs within SSI. You will be the operational anchor for a multi-stakeholder program - managing internal alignment across business units, driving external partnership execution with research institutions and industry bodies, and owning the program's delivery rhythm from roadmap to executive reporting. This role requires someone who can operate comfortably at the boundary between technical and business domains, build trust with senior stakeholders across organizational lines, and keep complex, multi-workstream programs on track without close supervision. You'll lead mechanisms that translate breakthrough science into scalable pilots and Amazon workflows, establishing best practices that compound impact across the organization.

This is a high-visibility role requiring the ability to influence technical direction across Amazon, drive alignment with senior leadership on multi-year investments, and serve as a thought leader bridging science, product, and business strategy.

A day in the life

You'll own a portfolio of solutions with company-wide impact, working with scientists and engineers across diverse domains, AI/ML teams, TPMs, and business unit stakeholders to orchestrate pilots and drive adoption at scale.

About the team

Sustainability Science and Innovation (SSI) is a multi-disciplinary team within WW Sustainability science, analytics, economics, statistics, machine learning, and engineering expertise. We use data across the sustainability imperatives (carbon, water, waste, biodiversity, environmental risk and more) and these skills and capabilities to identify, develop, experiment, and scale the scientific solutions and innovations necessary for Amazon, customers and partners to help them solve their hardest unmet and evolving sustainability needs and goals.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
