Job description

What if you could redefine how millions of people communicate at work?

At Amazon, email isn't a utility. It's infrastructure. It's trust. It's the invisible thread connecting every team, every decision, and every customer interaction across one of the most complex organizations on earth.

The Amazon Enterprise Engineering team owns that infrastructure. We operate Amazon's Tier 1, AWS-based email platform at a scale few engineers ever encounter, delivering billions of messages and neutralizing billions of threats every single year. But our sights are set far beyond what exists today.

We are building the future of enterprise communication, and AI is our catalyst. Partnering directly with AWS product teams, we are reimagining what email can be: smarter, faster, more secure, and fundamentally more human. This is not incremental improvement. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape how the world's largest teams work together.

We are looking for a Technical Program Manager based in Arlington, Virginia, who can turn ambiguity into action and vision into shipped product. In this role, you will be the driving force behind some of Amazon's most consequential infrastructure programs, aligning engineering teams across organizational boundaries, accelerating delivery on initiatives that touch every Amazonian, and partnering with AWS product leaders to bring next-generation capabilities to life. Your work won't live in a roadmap. It will live in the tools millions of people rely on every single day.

If you believe the best version of enterprise communication hasn't been built yet, and you want to be the one who builds it, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities

As a Technical Program Manager on the Amazon Enterprise Engineering team, you will be at the center of Amazon's most critical infrastructure programs, driving delivery and making things happen at scale.

You will:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of multiple complex, high-stakes programs simultaneously, keeping teams focused, accountable, and moving fast toward meaningful outcomes
  • Anticipate and mitigate risk by identifying bottlenecks early and driving strategies that keep programs on track and stakeholders informed
  • Make hard tradeoffs with clarity by balancing business priorities against technical constraints and bringing stakeholders to alignment
  • Provide technical leadership that ships by guiding how software applications are built and integrated into the AWS ecosystem
  • Partner across organizations by aligning engineering, design, product, and business teams on solutions that serve both immediate goals and long-term roadmaps
  • Influence without authority by earning trust across teams you don't own and driving outcomes no single team could achieve alone

You bring a proven track record in cross-organizational technical program management, a deep technical foundation in building platforms at scale, and the instinct to know when to push, when to align, and when to let great teams do their best work.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience
  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • 3+ years Experience with roadmap strategy and definition
  • 3+ years of experience delivering programs in large-scale, globally distributed enterprise environments
  • Experience working with or alongside cloud infrastructure or SaaS product teams (AWS experience a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive alignment and deliver results across teams without direct authority
  • 2+ years of experience working on programs that incorporate AI or machine learning capabilities, with an understanding of how AI products are scoped, built, and delivered
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
  • Experience with email and messaging systems, such as Microsoft Office 365, Exchange Online, Exchange 2019/SE, or PostFix
  • Experience delivering programs that leverage AI or ML to automate workflows, improve user experience, or enhance security at enterprise scale
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures, with the ability to engage credibly in technical design discussions
  • Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, or data privacy requirements in the context of large-scale messaging or communication platforms
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex program status into actionable narratives for senior and executive leadership
