Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Herndon, VA seeks a Sr. Technical Program Manager to own the delivery of data center power generation infrastructure innovations from concept to global deployment.

This role collaborates with engineers, procurement, and operations to design, plan, and implement high‑impact energy solutions. You will drive due diligence, develop technical strategies for generation and interconnection, and manage large projects with stringent timelines.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams.
  • Experience managing programs across cross‑functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing operational processes and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive first‑of‑a‑kind due diligence and development efforts across a range of power solutions (high voltage and medium voltage value chain). You will deliver large‑scale critical generation, transmission, and distribution projects in partnership with commercial energy and procurement teams globally under tight deadlines.
  • Perform due diligence on a variety of power generation solutions, partnering with internal and external teams to develop technical strategy that informs commercial deals.
  • Deliver technical design solutions for data center electrical interconnection to maximize safety, availability, frugality, and efficiency.
  • Support “net‑new” power generation programs, requiring knowledge of generation, interconnection, load siting, and HV/MV power systems, including regulation, load planning, and contractual commercial constructs.
  • Perform overall project management activities, acting as the single‑threaded owner for due diligence engagements and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Own end‑to‑end due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model reviews, and synthesis of inputs from technical disciplines.
  • Build reports, roadmaps, and program wikis using basic programming skills (HTML, Python) to facilitate product and program delivery.
  • Communicate with diverse teams—design engineering, construction, planning, procurement, environmental, and real‑estate—to deliver under tight timelines.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and provide weekly reporting on key project risks and issues to senior leadership at the director and vice‑president level.
  • Travel domestically (25%) and internationally as required.

Sr. Technical Program Mgr. for AWS Data Center Power Generation Infrastructure

Overview

The Sr. Technical Program Mgr. owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at‑scale global implementation. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced power infrastructure solutions and the people who develop them.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience defining KPIs/SLA’s to drive multi‑million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
  • Technical and commercial experience enabling generation and transmission projects directly co‑located to mission‑critical customer load
