Job description

Sr. Technical Program Manager, Air Science & Tech

Job ID: 2959883 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Love aviation and technology? Want to help deliver business-critical tools and solutions to Amazon Air? Then come soar with Air Science & Tech! Amazon Air (operating global air cargo flight and ground operations) needs YOU to lead the integration across fulfillment, ground, and air-transportation operations to run hundreds of flights per day supporting same-day shipping. Amazon Air is big and growing, and enabling this requires investment in science and technology to scale the operation.

Amazon Air Science and Technology (AST) team is looking for an experienced Sr. Technical Program Manager who thrives in dealing with ambiguity and able to independently drive efforts, building end-to-end planning, execution, and decision support systems for the Amazon Air program. This is a leadership position that requires both initiative and a great amount of technical program management depth within and across organizations to help build new and leverage existing fulfillment and transportation technologies to achieve our product vision.

This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks, and change control, owning complex, org-wide initiatives, thought leadership, a high degree of independence, ownership, bias for action, and making "right a lot" decisions. Additionally, this position requires the ability to think big and facilitate long-term research that contributes to a multi-year product roadmap.

Strong candidates will be able to understand and influence the development of large-scale, distributed services to drive solutions across multiple teams, have excellent communication skills, a passion for building simple, elegant, and architecturally-sound systems, and drive results.

Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Air Operations stakeholders to define, modify, and improve business-critical processes for automation and optimization
- Own and drive accurate portfolio-wide status of projects via Weekly Business Reviews
- Identify, mitigate, and resolve technical challenges across multiple solutions and services
- Create and execute Go-To-Market strategies in collaboration with Product Management, partner teams, and Network Planning and Capacity Management
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption through evangelism and change management efforts
- Lead business-case analysis and commercial solution evaluations which lead to data-driven build vs. buy decisions
- Perform duties as the business focal to manage and maintain relationships with our Air partners and external vendors
