Job summary

Peraton seeks a Systems Engineer to support our Cyber Mission unit in Annapolis Junction, MD. You will analyze user needs, draft CONOPS, and translate high-level architectures into system requirements within an Agile/DevOps environment with telework possible by tasking.

Responsibilities include leading verification activities, guiding integration and test planning, and communicating with Government stakeholders and program leadership across the life cycle.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph.
• 14+ years' experience as a SE in programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline; 5 years SE experience may substitute for a degree.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
• Ability to implement comprehensive SOA solutions.
• Ability to conduct end-to-end system trade analyses for lifecycle optimization.
• Ability to manage evolving system hardware/software configurations and documentation.
• Ability to define interfaces for software in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics.

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Cyber Mission business unit located in Annapolis Junction, MD. The team supports multiple products that automate manual tasks so that mission customers can focus on more complex issues. The team employs Agile methodologies and DevOps principles to ensure that high-quality, reliable software is delivered to the customer. The position is to be performed in a contractor facility which allows for flexible work schedules. In addition, the opportunity for teleworking is available based on tasking and customer approval.

The Systems Engineer Level 2 will analyze users' needs, draft concepts of operations (CONOPS), and use high-level system architectures to develop system requirements and specifications. The candidate will analyze system requirements, participate in design and development activities, guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies. The candidate will also plan and conduct system verification activities.

Additional responsibilities include the following:

Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system integration and test plans. Interact with Government stakeholders regarding systems engineering technical considerations, risks, issues, and conflicts. Communicating with other program personnel and government leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph is required.


• Fourteen (14) years' experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.


• Bachelor's degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering. Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.


• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.


• The ability to implement comprehensive SOA solutions.


• The ability to conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system. operations over its life cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas.


• The ability to ensure effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system.


• The ability to develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth.


• The ability to maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest.


• The ability to recommend a preferred solution based on selection criteria.


• The ability to provide technical direction for the full systems engineering life cycle.


• The ability to fully define interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics for software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with current and evolving agency dataflow and reporting solutions.


• Experience with a ticketing system such as GITLAB or JIRA.


• Experience in leading agile Scrum activities.


• Experience monitoring clustered or cloud environments.


• Experience troubleshooting issues and communicating effectively with users and stakeholders.

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
