Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer (Modeling and Analysis) based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and analysis of advanced satellite and aerospace systems. In this role, you will support the full engineering lifecycle, from initial concept development and requirements definition through integration, testing, deployment, and operations. You will leverage modeling and simulation tools to evaluate system performance, optimize technical solutions, and support critical engineering decisions. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical stakeholders, you will contribute to complex space missions and next-generation spacecraft capabilities. You will also help shape future product roadmaps, improve system architectures, and identify opportunities for cost optimization and design reuse. This is an opportunity to work on innovative space technologies while taking ownership of challenging engineering projects in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and perform systems engineering activities supporting the development, enhancement, and maintenance of advanced satellite and spacecraft systems.
  • Conduct system design assessments, architectural evaluations, and technical trade studies to support high-level concepts and subsequent detailed design activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate engineering models using MATLAB and Simulink to analyze spacecraft performance and support technical decision‑making.
  • Create and maintain Systems Tool Kit (STK) modeling scenarios to evaluate mission architectures, system capabilities, and operational performance.
  • Develop and maintain satellite communications analyses and link budgets to support spacecraft and mission requirements.
  • Support requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation through quantitative modeling, simulation, and engineering analysis.
  • Develop verification plans, requirements verification matrices, and associated documentation, supporting testing, acceptance, and verification activities.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, external partners, and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements and program objectives are successfully achieved.
  • Drive multiple engineering design activities across spacecraft, payloads, satellite buses, and launch integration programs or missions.
  • Participate in cross‑functional planning, technical coordination, and execution activities spanning the complete engineering and integration lifecycle.
  • Support spacecraft product roadmap development, including design modifications, schedule planning, and cost targets aligned with future business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of spacecraft customization processes to accommodate different customer mission requirements.
  • Perform additional systems engineering analyses, including reliability, demisability, technical budgets, and other specialized engineering assessments.
  • Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities through the reuse of established spacecraft platform designs, engineering solutions, and manufacturing infrastructure.
  • Support technical planning and execution while taking autonomous ownership of complex engineering assignments under the direction of engineering management and program leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement, ensuring spacecraft solutions remain technically competitive, reliable, and aligned with evolving mission needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related scientific field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • At least 9 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 7 years with a Master's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience working with aerospace hardware systems throughout the complete product lifecycle, including conceptual design, trade studies, detailed design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Familiarity with space mission architectures beyond the satellite platform, including launch systems, flight operations, mission concepts of operations (CONOPS), and user interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft systems engineering tools and methodologies, including DOORS and Systems Tool Kit (STK).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or comparable programming and engineering analysis languages.
  • Practical experience with spacecraft subsystems, including flight software, electrical power generation and distribution, data handling, attitude control, navigation, and communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in spacecraft requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation, including the development and management of Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrices.
  • Experience leading or performing specialized engineering analyses in areas such as affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory compliance, certification, and product assurance.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex technical challenges and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate across different organizational levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural engineering teams within a fast‑paced, technically complex environment.
  • Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach, with strong initiative and the ability to take ownership of challenging assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and consistently deliver high‑quality results.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. An active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at Secret level or above is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel periodically, representing less than 20% of working time, to US facilities or partner locations, with occasional international travel to collaborate with European engineering counterparts.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including extended periods of computer work, sitting, standing, and walking, as well as occasionally lifting or carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Candidates must have current US work authorization, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position unless explicitly specified.

  • Paid vacation and personal time off.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Tuition reimbursement and opportunities for continued professional development.
  • Eligibility for performance‑based bonuses.

Fully remote working opportunities across the United States, subject to approved work locations.

Preferred work locations in Arlington, Virginia; Denver, Colorado; and Merritt Island, Florida.

Opportunity to contribute to advanced aerospace, defense, space, and satellite technology programs.
