Omaha, NE-based DMSi Software seeks a Sr Systems Engineer to own AWS cloud environments and Linux systems hosting our hosted SaaS applications. You will automate infrastructure, harden the Linux fleet, and drive security and reliability as we scale.

The Sr Systems Engineer, owns the AWS cloud environments and Linux systems that host DMSi’s hosted SaaS applications. This role builds and manages cloud infrastructure through automation and infrastructure as code, administers and hardens the Linux fleet, and is a primary technical contributor to the availability and security of DMSi’s hosted environments. The role works closely with security, development, and support teams to keep infrastructure reliable as it scales.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Deep, hands‑on proficiency with core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ELB, and related services), sufficient to design and build production environments independently.
Strong Linux systems administration skills (RHEL preferred), including patching, hardening, and OS‑level troubleshooting.
Proficiency with infrastructure as code, using Terraform for infrastructure and Ansible for OS‑level configuration.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and VPN.
Scripting and automation ability (Bash, Python, or similar) to reduce manual, repetitive work.
Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document technical work for other engineers.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and direct customer impact.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience administering Linux systems in a production environment.
3+ years of hands‑on experience building and managing AWS infrastructure.
Exposure to technologies such as Progress OpenEdge, PostgreSQL, and Kafka is a plus.
AWS certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or similar) preferred.
Experience operating within a SOC 2 or similar compliance framework preferred.
Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS environments at scale preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands.
Travel to customer locations as needed, including overnight stays, business air travel, and car rentals.
Participation in an on‑call rotation, including response to production issues outside normal business hours.
