Qualifications

  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes (requirements, design, integration, test, and verification).
  • Experience with AGILE development; Scrum CSPO/CSM a plus.
  • Experience with development in high fidelity game engines (Unity preferred).
  • MS Office applications including MS Project.
  • Experience working with government customers and understanding of DoD acquisition processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead technical efforts and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide delivery orders from initiation through completion on military simulation system applications.
  • Analyze, decompose, and define systems-level requirements aligned with customer needs.
  • Design system architectures and ensure integration across subsystems.
  • Develop and execute system verification and validation plans.
  • Coordinate milestone testing events with government customers.
  • Prepare technical CDRL documentation per DD-1423 and DID requirements.
  • Lead project staff in operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Ensure technical performance and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, graphics, and program management teams.
  • Serve as primary technical interface with customers and stakeholders.
  • Organize integration events, technical briefings, and planning for SMEs and leaders.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies across the lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Position Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer will play a critical role in the planning, development, and execution of delivery orders (DOs), contributing both as a technical leader and hands-on engineer. This individual will be responsible for guiding systems engineering efforts across the full lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements development through testing, verification, and final delivery.

This role requires close collaboration with internal teams and government stakeholders and may involve occasional travel to customer sites or test events. A hybrid work environment is possible when not required to be on-site for customer meetings or test events. The program reserves the right to require on-site work if program execution and success dictates.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the development of delivery orders (DOs) from initiation through completion on military simulation system applications
  • Analyze, decompose, and define systems-level requirements aligned with customer needs
  • Design system architectures and ensure integration across multiple subsystems
  • Develop and execute system verification and validation plans
  • Coordinate and participate in milestone testing events with government customers
  • Coordinate, develop, and deliver technical CDRL documentation in accordance with project DD-1423 and DID requirements
  • Coordinate and direct project staff to develop operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting scenarios
  • Ensure technical performance, quality, and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, graphics, and program management
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with customers, stakeholders, and end users - building and maintaining relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Organize and conduct integration events, technical briefings, and planning events for audiences ranging from instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to requirements owners and program leadership
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the system lifecycle
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
Required Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes (requirements, design, integration, test, and verification)
  • Experience with AGILE development
    • Certified Scrum Product Owner or Certified Scrum Master is a plus
  • Experience with development in high fidelity game engines (Unity Preferred)
  • MS Office applications including MS Project
  • Experience working with government customers and understanding of DoD acquisition processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead technical efforts and manage competing priorities
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies
  • Familiarity with systems engineering standards (e.g., INCOSE, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288)
  • Prior experience supporting defense or aerospace programs
