Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America (MBRDNA) is seeking a seasoned engineer to integrate ADAS software into Mercedes-Benz vehicles. You will flash ECUs, verify vehicle readiness, and perform test drives while coordinating with global teams on software packages for large fleets.

The role requires troubleshooting at software and signal levels, strong documentation, and travel, including to Germany. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Physics, Electrical or related fields.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in ADAS Development and knowledge about state-of-the-Art L2 and L2+ ADAS functions.
• Advanced coding skills in console application script languages (Python, bash, ansible, bazel, …).
• Experience with E/E integration and signal tracing as well as automotive communication protocols (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet, …).
• Knowledge about ADAS sensors like Camera, Radar and Lidar.
• Experience with tools to debug automotive interfaces (e.g. Vector Tools, CANoe, …).
• International travel is required, especially to Germany.
• Valid US Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware and firmware integration for next generation prototypes and fleet vehicles on development PCs and ECUs.
• System debugging during integration and deployment of interfaces and connections (Ethernet, SW Interfaces, Sensor connections, …).
• Lead root cause analysis across complex signal chain.
• Lead signal level analysis on Bus Level using CANoe or other tools.
• Collaboration with international development teams and partners to increase working efficiency.
• Develop technical understanding of signal architecture between ECUs.
• Develop technical understanding of SW Architecture within ADAS ECU.
• Participate in test drives to experience our product firsthand to understand current problems.

The MBRDNA Autonomous Driving Team is looking for motivated and passionate engineers who will help to integrate our ADAS software package into Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Our Team is working with global teams and partners to create SW Packages that can be rolled out to a large fleet of development vehicles all over the world. This Team is responsible for providing development and pre-production vehicles. Furthermore, we are supporting the pre-production vehicle phase until the products reach the end-customer. Your role is to develop, verify and document software packages to use them for V&V activities. This involves flashing ECUs, verifying vehicle readiness, and performing test drives. The role requires troubleshooting and debugging issues on software and signal level. We expect you to coordinate with the global team on a day-to-day basis and drive topics individually. You will get the chance to experience the next generation Mercedes-Benz ADAS Systems along its way to the customer.

Relocation assistance (domestic or international) is not provided for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Physics, Electric or related fields.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in ADAS Development and knowledge about state-of-the-Art L2 and L2+ ADAS functions.
• Advanced coding skills in console application script languages (Python, bash, ansible, bazel, …).
• Advanced analytical problem-solving skills, ability to identify and surface issues within complex hardware/software systems.
• Experience with E/E integration and signal tracing as well as automotive communication protocols (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet, …).
• Knowledge about ADAS sensors like Camera, Radar and Lidar.
• Experience with tools to debug automotive interfaces (e.g. Vector Tools, CANoe, …).
• Effective communication skills, ability to formulate thoughts and ideas precisely in verbal and written form.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing boundary conditions.
• International travel is required, especially to Germany.
• Ability to get in and out of sedan sized vehicles regularly.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time working at a vehicle or testing benches.
• Valid US Driver License.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $130,000 - $162,500.

This position may involve access to export-controlled technology, hardware, or software under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 C.F.R. Parts 730-774 and possibly technical data, defense articles and defense services subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 22 C.F.R. Parts 120-130. As such, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America may be required to obtain an export license or authorization in accordance with United States law.
