Job summary

Redolent Infotech Pvt. Ltd. in Reston, VA seeks a Sr. System Engineer for a 6+ month contract to drive design and deployment of applications across clouds and analytics tools. You will wear multiple hats including SysEng, NetEng, DBA and Dev, ensuring reliability and performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong Linux/Unix administration, experience with automation (Puppet, Chef, Ansible), CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, Maven), monitoring tools and hands-on scripting (PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field with 5+ years of IT experience.
• Leads and participates in medium- to small-scale, complex cross-functional projects.
• Work with development teams to ensure UX, scale/performance and operability.
• Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration.
• Automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or equivalents.
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services.
• Strong experience with SQL, MySQL, Cassandra.
• Familiar with PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Git, Maven, Ant, Jenkins) in multiple environments.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, GrayLog, Logstash, Monit, PagerDuty).
• Understand metric requirements of system health.
• Experience writing and maintaining automation scripts (Unix Shell, Ansible).
• Solid knowledge of Unix systems and multi-tier architectures.
• Knowledge of HAProxy, Tomcat, Node.js.

Title: Sr. System Engineer

LOCATION: Reston, VA

DURATION: 6+ months

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our data scientists, business partners and systems engineers to drive the definition and implementation of the next generation of applications and analytics tools for our predictive intelligence platform. The ideal candidate must be able to wear multiple hats (SysEng, NetEng, DBA, Dev, etc.), must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen with various monitoring and logging solutions to detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field plus 5+ years experience in IT or related field


• Leads and participates in medium- to small-scale, complex, cross-functional projects


• Work closely with development teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance and operability in mind


• Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration


• Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent


• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services


• Strong experience with SQL and MySQL, CRDBMS, Cassandra


• A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)


• Experience with continuous integration, delivery, and related tools (e.g. Git, Maven, Ant, Jenkins) in Dev, QA, Staging, and Prod environments


• Experience with setting up monitoring tools, e.g. Nagios, GrayLog, Logstash, Monit, PagerDuty.


• Understand the metric requirements of system/application health


• Experience writing and maintaining tools and scripts to support automation and operations, e.g. Unix Shell scripts, Ansible, etc.


• Solid knowledge of Unix systems with ability to troubleshoot issues in complex, distributed, multi-tier architectures.


• Knowledge and experience with HAProxy, Tomcat, Node.js, etc.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with troubleshooting and performance tuning in JVM, MySQL, Informix, Cassandra, Elasticsearch


• Experience with setting up a whole network infrastructure, configuring and troubleshooting networking issues


• Experience in secure, scalable and highly available online services
