Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Sr. System Administrator in Andover, MA to support critical programs with classified information systems.

You will design, implement, and maintain secure IT environments across Windows and Red Hat ecosystems, collaborating with Cybersecurity for compliant operations. The role requires DoD 8140/8570 readiness, 24x7 support, and a strong cloud/virtualization foundation.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to start; U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience administering and securing Windows and RHEL servers.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Experience securing system configurations and hardening.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Windows and RHEL environment.
• Understand Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, AD, and replication methods.
• Collaborate as a team member in a fast-paced environment and with Cybersecurity to maintain security requirements.
• Provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
• Must be able to obtain DoDD 8140/8570 certifications (Security+ CE or equivalent) within a reasonable time.
• Systems are 24x7 operational and may require after-hours work.

Sr. System Administrator based in Andover, MA, internally known as Sr. Information Workplace Services professional who will collaborate and support exciting, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you can develop, implement, and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

What You Will Do:

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux environment.
• Understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
• Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.
• Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
• Provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
• Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within a reasonable amount of time
• Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.

Full time 100% onsite positioned in Tewksbury MA

Qualifications You Must Have :

• Typically requires A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field minimum 3 years experience
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience administering and securing Windows and RHEL servers
• Experience with VMware virtualization
• Experience with securing system configurations, system hardening
• Experience with PowerShell scripting

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience serving as a technical SME or primary point of contact for patching, vulnerability remediation, or compliance initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with MECM/SCCM, PXE boot services, OS imaging, and automated software deployment frameworks.
• Familiarity with NetApp storage and/or HPC environments.
• Experience with enterprise Windows services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity integration.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance tooling, such as ACAS, SCAP, Splunk, STIG Viewer, and audit support processes.
