Job summary

OpenAI seeks a senior structured finance leader to drive execution for a growing capital markets function. You will translate broad financing objectives into executable plans, manage lenders and advisors, and own the process from strategy to close.

This hands-on role requires staying close to day-to-day execution while building scalable financing processes and coaching junior professionals. Relocation to San Francisco is expected for this position.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of experience executing structured finance, project finance, infra finance, digital infrastructure finance, or other capital-intensive transactions.
• Led multiple complex financings through close with clear justification of decisions.
• Experience across structuring, modeling oversight, lender/investor engagement, documentation, diligence, negotiation, and closing.
• Strong judgment on capital structure, counterparties, risk allocation, and financing process design.
• Bank training followed by in-house, principal, developer, infrastructure investment, or specialist advisory environment.
• Exposure to data centers, digital infrastructure, power, energy, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive sectors.
• Experience building financing processes or functions, not only operating within a mature platform.

The Capital Markets team develops the financing strategy, solutions, and partnerships needed to support our expanding global AI infrastructure platform and long-term investment plans.

About the Role

We're looking for a senior structured finance leader to create immediate execution leverage for a growing capital markets function. In this role, you'll take broad financing objectives, such as raising a large pool of capital from a defined set of counterparties, and independently turn them into well-run transaction processes.

You'll lead complex financings from strategy through close, manage counterparties and advisors, and bring sound judgment to capital structure, risk allocation, process design, and execution. This is a hands-on role for someone who is still close to the details, not a purely senior relationship manager. Your work will allow the team lead to spend less time in day-to-day execution and more time building the broader capital markets organization.

In this role, you will:

You might thrive in this role if you have:

• 8-15 years of experience executing structured finance, project finance, infrastructure finance, digital infrastructure finance, or other capital-intensive transactions.
• Personally led multiple complex or large-scale financings through close, with the ability to explain your individual role and decisions in detail.
• Experience across the full transaction lifecycle, including structuring, modeling oversight, lender or investor engagement, documentation, diligence, negotiation, and closing.
• Strong judgment across capital structure, counterparties, risk allocation, and financing process design.
• Bank training, ideally followed by a successful move into an in-house, principal, developer, infrastructure investment, or specialist advisory environment.
• Exposure to data centers, digital infrastructure, power, energy, infrastructure, or similarly capital-intensive sectors.
• Experience building financing processes or functions, rather than only operating within a mature platform.
• A track record of managing, coaching, or developing junior transaction professionals.
• Comfort operating in a low-hierarchy, high-ambiguity environment where senior leaders are expected to stay close to execution.
• Willingness to relocate to or work consistently from San Francisco.
