Job summary

Zachry Group in Omaha, NE is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead industrial steel and concrete design for power generation projects. You will guide technical reviews, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with architects, clients, and other disciplines.

The role requires a PE, 12+ years of structural experience in power/industrial sectors, and proficiency with AutoCAD/STAADPro/RISA/Enercalc/Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or related field is required.
• 12+ years of Structural Engineering experience in the Power and Industrial industry.
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
• Professional registration as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) is preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, STAADPro, RISA, Enercalc or similar analysis software.
• Familiarity with Navisworks or 3D design/viewing software.
• Experience with large industrial projects and understanding of project environments, requirements and risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide technical guidance throughout the structural design and engineering process, including senior review of calculations and models.
• Coordinate, review and approve building design plans, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
• Mentor junior engineering personnel and provide discipline-specific technical expertise.
• Prepare data visualizations, reports, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for presentation of complex data.
• Prepare comprehensive structural technical reports and presentations explaining research, concepts, and recommendations.
• Analyze data from site investigations and develop action plans for risk mitigation.
• Interact with architects, consultants, and clients in a confident, professional manner.
• Responsible for design and safety of temporary structures during construction.
• Consider costs, regulations, environmental hazards, and other factors in planning and risk analysis.
• Perform material take-offs for steel and concrete on industrial projects.
• Write technical specifications and scopes of work for steel, concrete, and geotechnical materials.
• Independently evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques with judicious adaptations.
• Travel to job sites and provide construction or commissioning support.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure safe, on-time delivery within budget and quality requirements.

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our Omaha, NE office. The ideal candidate will lead exciting industrial steel & concrete structural projects and have experience in the power generation market.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide technical guidance throughout the structural design and engineering process, often serving as the senior reviewer of calculations and structural models.
• Coordinate, review and approve building design plans, ensure work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of providing mentoring for junior engineering personnel.
• Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex data, findings, or analyses.
• Prepare comprehensive structural technical reports and presentations that explain research, concepts, and recommendations.
• Analyze, evaluate, and interpret data obtained during site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities.
• Interact with architects, consultants, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
• Responsible for the design and safety of temporary structures used during construction.
• Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.

• Coordinate with other disciplines, departments, and companies to ensure seamless technical compatibility and completion of engineering tasks safely, on-time, within budget and meeting all quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or related field required.
• 12+ years of Structural Engineering experience in the Power and Industrial industry.
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). (required)
• Professional registration as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) (preferred)
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, STAADPro, RISA, Enercalc or similar analysis software
• Familiarity with 3D design and viewing software such as Navisworks
• Experience with large industrial projects, and understanding of project environments, requirements, and risks
• Knowledge and understanding of engineering, construction, and project management
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Strong language skills (written and oral)
• Strong Microsoft Office software skills
• Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
