What you'll do
- Spearhead the architecture and execution of Pinterest's data warehouse framework, focusing on storage solutions and governance methodologies.
- Define the long-term strategy for sophisticated data analytics tools, which will include experimentation, ad-hoc analysis, visualization, pipeline development, and AI-driven data operations.
- Create and implement data governance frameworks and tools to ensure data reliability, ethical usage, and operational effectiveness.
- Address intricate, cross-departmental challenges within the data landscape, balancing the needs for usability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Propel significant user adoption and drive measurable business results through enhancements to platforms and tools.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to elevate engineering practices, focusing on design principles, execution strategies, and critical decision-making processes.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to gather requirements and ensure that projects are aligned with organizational goals.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the data product platform.
- Engage in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices within the engineering team.
- Analyze and optimize data workflows to enhance performance and reduce latency across the data ecosystem.
- Lead initiatives that promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 12 years of professional experience working with large-scale data warehouses, tools, and platforms.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in constructing data warehouses and associated tools using technologies such as Spark, Trino, Flink, Airflow, Querybook, Superset, or DataHub.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across various departments.
- Direct experience in developing tools and data pipelines utilizing AI coding assistants like Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
- Practical knowledge in creating AI-driven tools and platforms that enhance data pipeline development, data analysis, and overall engineering efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex data challenges.

- Experience with cloud-based data solutions and services.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and their application in data analytics.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance standards.
Skills & tools

- This role requires 1-2 days of in-office collaboration each quarter, but candidates can reside anywhere within the United States.

- The salary range for this position is between $208,592 and $429,454 USD. The final compensation will be determined based on various factors, including location, travel requirements, prior experience, and specific skill sets.
- This position is also eligible for equity compensation.
