Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Sr. Staff Designer on the AI/ML team to shape the design direction of strategic AI products handling large data sets. You will balance strategic thinking with hands-on design work, helping define the future of evolving products and laying the foundation for the team to build upon.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, set design strategy, and collaborate with engineering, product management, and other designers to deliver scalable experiences worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI into work processes or decision-making.
• 10+ years of relevant design experience.
• Experience designing for complex, interconnected data (analytics platforms, data visualization, enterprise data tools).
• Portfolio showing end-to-end product design solutions that meet user needs and business goals.
• Experience producing high-fidelity specs for design systems, languages, and frameworks.

This role is part of our Product Design team that uses their superpower of empathizing, understanding, and applying our users’ and customers’ needs, with the mission to created product experiences they love. Our designers come from a varied set of skills and background - design systems, visual, interaction, content, and product design. At ServiceNow, design has a very intentional seat at the table, so our team collaborates closely with both engineering and product management from the get-go.

You'll shape the design direction of a strategic AI product that shapes large data sets to accelerate and optimize an organization's AI system.As a Sr. Staff Designer on the AI/ML team, you'll operate at multiple levels: thinking strategically about where the products should go while staying hands-on with the actual design work. These products are still early and evolving, which means you're not just refining existing patterns — you're helping define what they become. Your design decisions become the foundation the team builds on.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry
• 10+ years of relevant design experience
• Experience designing products or features that help users work with complex, interconnected data (e.g., analytics platforms, data visualization, or enterprise data tools)
• An inspiring portfolio demonstrating exceptional and innovative product design solutions for end-to-end user journeys that satisfy user needs and business objectives
• Experience in producing high-fidelity specifications for deliverables such as product design experiences, design languages, and frameworks across one or more domains or key strategic initiatives
• Advocate for design value and purpose across the company and externally to elevate colleagues, teams, and community of practice
• Influence skills and drive to continuously improve product design processes across business units and design teams
• Experience participating in the complete product development lifecycle of web and/or software applications
• Experience in user experience design or industry experience (corporate, software, web or agency)

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $190,900 - $334,100, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
