Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Mission Systems Integrated Product Team Development Lead to join the Avionic Integration Organization. Qualifications

Job Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (MS IPT) Development Lead to join the Avionic Integration Organization. This leadership role is located onsite in Rancho Bernardo, California.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a diverse engineering design team of approximately 45–50 Comms, Networks, Payloads, and Software engineers, providing imaginative technical solutions across the Program.
  • Oversee team performance of all MS IPT scope and activities throughout the Development portfolio, from proposals to close‑out.
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership and mentorship to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Serve as MS IPT focal point for Program Management on technical, cost and schedule reporting.
  • Manage Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities for labor and material (subcontractor) control accounts, supporting monthly Business Rhythm and accurate EAC forecasting.
  • Coordinate staffing with IPT leadership to maintain appropriate skill sets.
  • Perform risk and opportunity management, developing and tracking mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Management to manage supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineer, IPTs, suppliers, customer and Program Management to define and execute design vision.
  • Drive first‑time quality and promote a culture of technical rigor.
  • Assist in capturing future development work through bids of proposed efforts.
  • Ensure contractual requirements are met, including timely delivery of CDRLs.
  • Lead technical anomaly resolution, coordinating technical change reviews and signing off on Development change boards/ECPs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 14years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12years of experience; OR PhD and 10years of experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effective communication at all levels.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) of labor or material or subcontract labor accounts.
  • Experience leading a technical team.
  • Experience in risk and opportunity management.
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (background investigation completed within last 6years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with current SCI and/or SAP.
  • Experience developing, preparing, and defending proposal bids for technical programs.
  • Experience as a certified CAM.
  • Technical leadership in systems engineering, vehicle engineering, avionics, software, electronics, or mission payloads.
  • Experience in system‑level or hardware‑in‑the‑loop integration/test.
  • Demonstrated championing of technical change resulting in performance improvements or team efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with HALE ISR UAV programs (Triton, RQ‑4).
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $192,800.00 – $289,200.00 (general guideline; final offer considers experience, education and market conditions).

Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and Long Term Incentives for VP/Director levels. Health insurance, life, disability, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off are provided.
