Job summary

Citi Trends is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Savannah, GA. You will maintain accurate financial records, support financial reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

You’ll collaborate with the accounting team on month-end close, reconciliations, and audits, while contributing to process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with GL, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office; Power BI is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High integrity and professionalism with confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries
• Assist in implementing audit recommendations and process improvements

Citi Trends is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

You’ll work closely with the accounting team on month-end close activities, reconciliations, and audits while also contributing to process improvements that help the business operate more efficiently. What You’ll Do

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments

Compliance & Audit Support

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Stay current on changes in accounting regulations and assist with implementation as needed
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries
• Assist in implementing audit recommendations and process improvements

Process Improvement & Collaboration

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
• Support the development and implementation of new accounting procedures and systems
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support accurate and timely financial reporting

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the accounting function and business needs.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools (Power BI a plus)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA preferred, not required
• Experience in retail, public accounting, or a publicly traded company
• Familiarity with accounting systems such as Island Pacific or AS400
