Job summary

The Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a Production Designer to build and edit production files, ensure brand integrity, and deliver accessible, print-ready digital assets. You will work closely with the art director and print production manager to preflight files and meet deadlines.

Ideal candidates will have mastery of InDesign, strong knowledge of Acrobat for interactive PDFs, and familiarity with brand guidelines and Schwab expectations.

Qualifications

  • Expert level mastery of Adobe InDesign.
  • Basic to intermediate level mastery of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Basic to intermediate level mastery of Adobe Acrobat and creating interactive and fillable PDFs.
  • Basic understanding of accessibility standards in digital and print.
  • Experience working within strict brand guidelines, plus current Schwab working exprience.
  • Strong print prepress knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Build production files from new art direction files with collaboration from the art director to preserve design integrity.
  • Update production files of existing pieces.
  • Generate new production files from templates or existing files.
  • Build and hand off files for template-based tools.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.



  • Build production files based on new files from art direction, while collaborating with the art director in order to maintain the integrity of their original design.

  • Update production files of existing pieces.

  • Build new production files based on existing files or templates.

  • Build and hand off files that will be programmed into various template-based tools.

  • Produce digital, fillable, and interactive PDFs.

  • Ensure that all files meet accessibility requirements.

  • Accurately make copy and layout edits to files during all reviews, while meeting deadlines.

  • Check all files for completeness and ensure adherence to Schwab Brand standards and production specifications.

  • Work closely with the print production manager to help ensure that accurately built files are provided to the print vendor.

  • Preflight approved files for final hand off to print production.

  • Review soft and hard proofs as requested.

  • Perform image adjustments such as changing resolution, resizing, cropping, and retouching as necessary.

  • Proactively communicate with project team members in order to provide clarification or eliminate and prevent issues that may affect timing and/or the final deliverable.

  • Ask for any necessary information and come to kickoffs and other meetings prepared.

  • Produce logo files for Schwab Alliance/Advisor statements, Fixed Income reports, and Schwab Retirement Plan Services statements.

  • Assist in organizing, monitoring, archiving, and maintaining files on the server.

  • Maintain knowledge of all C2 and studio team systems and processes and offer recommendations for improvements as needed.

  • Assist in creating or maintaining team process documentation.

  • Learn about Schwab’s products, services, audiences, and resources.

  • Work to keep skills and technical knowledge current.

  • Share project and technical knowledge with the studio design team.

Required Qualifications

  • Additional consideration given for experience in the print industry

  • Basic knowledge of HTML tags is helpful
