Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Specialist Solutions Architect for Databases to design complete architectures using AWS database services and lead migrations and modern data solutions in the US.

You will engage with executives and engineers, drive architectural reviews, and contribute to field-ready reference architectures. Travel ~25% and collaborate with sales, product, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Must communicate across technical and non-technical audiences including executives.
• Fluent GenAI understanding and ability to discuss data/AI strategies.
• Experience with large-scale data management and cloud architectures.
• Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.

As a Database Specialist Solutions Architect (SA) you will design complete solution architectures based on AWS database services.

Key job responsibilities

• Provide AWS customers with deep technical expertise and strategic guidance to effectively use AWS Database Services across their business, both tactically and strategically
• Collaborate with AWS specialist sales, marketing, and product teams to develop innovative solutions for customers' most challenging business problems
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers' executives, helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation
• Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on common use cases and industry best practices, helping customers jump‑start their AWS migration journey
• Design and architect complex database solutions based on relational or non‑relational technologies
• Champion industry best practices through technical thought leadership content, including blogs, white papers, and reference architectures
• Present at key industry events such as AWS re:Invent, AWS Summit, and other conferences
• Educate customers on AWS value proposition for data management workloads, ensuring solutions are optimized for production environments
• Provide feedback to AWS product teams on customer‑specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty
• Stay current with emerging trends in database, analytics, and generative artificial intelligence technologies to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage
• Travel approximately 25% of the time, mostly in the US, to support customer and stakeholder needs

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technology domain areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or internet industries
• Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
• Experience communicating across technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive‑level stakeholders or clients
• Deep knowledge and experience with at least one open‑source relational database (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or non‑relational database (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Couchbase, Neptune, Neo4j)
• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
• Experience working with end‑user or developer communities
• Experience in a technical role within a sales organization
• Experience architecting or operating solutions built on AWS
• Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) fluency

Benefits

The base salary range for this position varies by location: USA, GA, Atlanta – 153,600.00 – 207,800.00 USD annually; USA, TX, Dallas – 153,600.00 – 207,800.00 USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – 153,600.00 – 207,800.00 USD annually.

In addition to base salary, the package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
