Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Specialist Solutions Architect to lead deep, technical engagements migrating both heterogeneous and homogeneous databases to AWS-native targets such as Aurora, RDS, and Amazon DSQL.
You will work across tooling like AWS DMS, Schema Conversion, and GenAI-based solutions, developing prototypes and reusable content for customers. You will mentor other specialists, contribute to roadmaps, and travel up to ~30% to engage with customers and deliver workshops
The Worldwide Database Migration Specialist team positions AWS as the best place to migrate and modernize commercial and open-source databases. We help customers move off legacy Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and other commercial engines to AWS-native databases — Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL, RDS, and Amazon DSQL — using AWS DMS, Schema Conversion, and GenAI-powered migration tooling, accelerating some of the largest and most complex migrations in our portfolio. As a Sr. Specialist Solutions Architect on this team, you will lead deep, technical customer engagements on heterogeneous and homogeneous database migrations, and scale your expertise across the field through reference architectures, workshops, and enablement. This is a worldwide role supporting enterprise and strategic customers across all industries on their database migration and modernization initiatives.
You're the person customers lean on when they're moving their most important databases to the cloud — off legacy systems like Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase, onto modern managed databases on AWS. One day you're whiteboarding a massive migration with a customer's engineers; the next you're deep in the details, chasing down why a migration stalled and getting it unblocked. You'll build quick prototypes and demos — often with AI coding tools — to prove out an approach, then turn what you learn into guides and workshops others can reuse. Expect to travel up to about 30%, depending on your customers' needs.
